#136 Jaime Hilario

Dear Jaime Hilario,

You are amazing. You are definitely one of the top highlights of my year and the peace you gave me is something I turn to when times get rough after we met. I can’t even express how thankful I am for you. You are one of those who made me realize and feel what it really means to be a Lasallian. There’s something about you that makes me fall in love. Or maybe it was a lot of different things that when put together just fills up my soul. It was singing the Alma Mater Song with you. It was the site of the pupils in their everyday life with you. It was interacting with them. It was waving and highfiving them goodbye before they went home. It was the sounds we’ve heard after everyone has gone home—the waves of the ocean, the bullfrogs, the insects, everything. It was how simple and peaceful life is with you.

Thank you, Jaime Hilario. I long for the day we meet again. Hopefully, next year.

Dear Meh,

Sobrang dami kong pinagdaanan this year—emotional ups and downs, galas and adventures, spiritual drought and realizations, and everything else. And alam kong each of those wouldn’t be the same without you. When I said sa Twitter na I wouldn’t know how 2017 would have been bearable without you, I really mean it. Thank you for being a nanay, my wounding friend, my alarm clock, my manicurista (HAHAHA), my SME president (yeheees), and everything that you are to me. I will always be grateful for the love and care from you. I see Jesus in you! :)

Dear Cherry,

Naka ilang notes, letters and posts na ako for you, kailangan ko pa ba i-reiterate the things I thank you for? ‘Lam mon a ‘yun. Wala na ako isusulat ditto. HAHAHA JK. Teka try ko mag-isip ako ng never before said.

Thank you for being the closest thing that I have to a best friend. Thank you rin for being a low maintenance friend in the sense na hindi naman tayo lagi-laging nagkakasama pero whenever we do have the opportunity, worthwhile is an understatement. Thank you for bearing with all my venting and kadaldalan. Hahaha. Thank you for being that friend na answer to my prayers. Thank you for everything!

Dear Mama Beth,

Manila will never be a second home for me without you and Dada Pong. Thank you for always allowing me to disturb you whenever I have waiver that needs to be signed. And whenever I visit you, thank you for never letting me go back to my dorm empty-handed. I would always appreciate how you add to my allowance as well as welcoming and sending me home with food. But most of all, thank you for the kumustahans. And I am grateful that even if “mama’s far away”, I know that I have a mama just one jeepney ride away.

Dear Dada Pong,

Manila will never be a second home to me without you and Mama Beth. Thank you for making the Manila life more comfortable with not just the free food, free rides, and other material things, but with just your mere presence and providing me a home away from home. I really appreciate the adjustments you do in your schedules just to make sundo and hatid me. I will always treasure our car ride conversations and the wisdom you impart to me. Thank you Dada Pong!

Dear Tito Buboy,

I’ve said this a couple of times already but I’ll never get tired of saying it because it’s true and I hope the repetition will only express the amount of gratitude I have. Thank you for being a father to me and MJ. I am also grateful for the rides to and from Manila and especially the conversations that come with it.
