Maggie is ready for the Winter Ball!!

I wish I had done something a little more complex, and I don’t think I emulated the charm style that well, but I’m really happy with the way this came out.

Also! I cant figure out how to add it here (every time I try I get an upload error) but I have a speedpaint for this! I might post it on Instagram. If I do, I'll reblog this with a link.

Could Maggie have a reading? She's been feeling a bit burnt out lately (no pun intended) and isn't quite sure what to do about it

“Well,” Andi smiled widely at Maggie. “Isn’t this a treat!”

“Let’s hear what the cards have to say to you, firebug.” Andi gestured to the seat across the table in the back room. Then she took her place and started shuffling through the cards. Listening to the animals speaking out. A loud roar cut through the din...

“Perfect,” Andi smiled. “Nurturing Bear.”

“Bear faces down a reputation of violent brutality but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Her real nature is that of a loving and nurturing Mother.

Bear prepares for the arrival of her cubs by building up her reserves but if she senses that things aren’t right then she will hold on and wait. Timing and preparation are important. Deliberate carefully and nurture your creativity internally through retreat or meditation. Then when you return to the world you will bear ripe and ready fruit and once again begin to enjoy the sweetness of life.”

“Oh! And a mutual friend of ours wants you to have this.” Andi pulled out a piece of paper to slide over to Maggie.

Full name: Magdalena "Maggie" Annsdottir

Pronouns: She/They

Age: about 34

Height: 5'6"

Familiar: Mitzi, a drum horse

Magic: fire-breathing, some healing magic

Bio: Maggie was born to Ann Jorunnsdottir of the Scourge, but her father, Ignacio, lived in Nopal and wasn't aware she even existed. She was good friends with Montag, and on her tenth birthday, he gave her a citrine necklace that he "found" somewhere. She told him about her father, making him promise not to tell. Somehow, though, Morga found out and, having just taken control of the tribe, made her first order of business to exile Ann and Maggie.

They fled to Vesuvia (still a very young city) to live with Maggie's Aunt. She trained Maggie in magic and cared for her while Ann worked until she was old enough to perform in the market for change.

Maggie was in her mid twenties when the plague hit, and her mother was one of the first people to die. Her aunt went back to Nopal soon after, leaving the shop to Maggie and Asra, barely nineteen. She tried to keep the shop running but caught the plague and died about 3 years after her mom.

Asra resurrected her 4 years later and she started a whole new business selling candles. Soon after, she was brought to the palace to solve the murder of the count. Her story deviates a bit from canon in that she remembers being friends with Lucio when she meets him as a ghost.

Echoes of the Past: Day 9 First Loves

I'm ending my art streak on a high note with @dreams-of-the-arcana 's Cleo again! They have such a cute relationship and even if it doesnt fit perfectly in canon, I couldn't not draw them. Cleo definitely takes the lead in their relationship, which is perfect for Maggie, nervous wreck that she is. They balance each other out in so many ways and it just.. works. 💙
