To anyone else who suddenly started having issues with apps stopping/crashing on their android yesterday evening:
I have a Samsung galaxy s9 and last night, I started having issues with random apps crashing and telling me that they've stopped. I almost resorted to doing a factory reset, but I discovered the problem/solution this morning. The problem was caused by a buggy update to an app called Android System WebView. Google says that they are working on a solution, but to solve the problem until then, go to your settings and search for the webview app. Once there, tap the three dots at the top right and select uninstall updates. This should solve the issue.
