There is a dangerous situation going down where I live. Please help spread awareness.

Dear tumblr people with a lot of followers (I tagged the people I follow that are tumblr famous, if you can tag others that would be great.)

I need your help. I am trying to spread awareness on the situation that is going down in Camp Minden, Louisiana. Camp Minden is the location of the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant that has been causing the citizens of Minden and the surrounding areas a lot of problems over the last few years.

"When the plant ceased production, as The Times-Picayune of New Orleans pointed out, “the Army awarded now-bankrupt Explo Systems a contract in 2010 to ‘demilitarize’ the propellant charges for artillery rounds” on the site. The company conducted “operations” there “until a 2012 explosion sent a mushroom cloud 7,000 feet high and broke windows a mile away in Doyline,” another small community in the area." (source)

After this event, the authorities found that Explo had been storing these explosives improperly. There are more than 15 million pounds of M-6 propellent on the site and EPA has come up with a "safe solution" of an open burn of 80,000 pounds a day for up to a year.

This is bullshit. Not only is this not safe for the surrounding areas because it could cause multiple explosions, the toxins that will be released into the air, soil, and water will cause health problems for citizens like cancer and birth defects in a 50 mile radius.

We are a poor community. We have managed to get ourselves 90 days to come up with a better way of disposing the propellant, but unless we come up with something, we're doomed.

2014 has been a pretty big year for me. I’ve dealt with quite a few struggles this year which has caused me to learn a lot about myself and the kind of person that I want to be. I feel a lot more mature and grounded going into 2015 now, I actually have goals and aspirations for myself, and I am feeling very excited to be able to keep growing and becoming a more independent and mature person.

I’m proud for pushing myself into a more positive direction in my life, I have very high hopes for 2015 ^-^

15) Do you prefer to be behind the camera or in front of it?Both. I've been into photography since I was young, being behind the camera always gave me the ability to show others the beauty I felt like I was only able to see. While being in front of the camera gave me an creative outlet. I would have to say though, I do get shy and a bit weird when someone else is taking my picture, I feel tons more comfortable when I'm in front of the camera while it's on self-timer. 44) What was the last movie you saw?Frozen. I finally got to see it a few days ago,they were playing it on some movie channel and...I didn't think it was as good as everyone was saying it was. I was kinda disappointed. 87) What is your current desktop picture?Okay, is it weird that I just have the plain o' background desktop picture it came with? I never cared too much about changing it and making it personal since it's an old laptop I was given when my laptop broke, so I guess I just didn't care much.
