Ffa Coffi Pawb (Everyone's Coffee Bean) is new to me, but get this...this is Gruff Rhys' high school era band. And "Dalec Peilon" was originally released on cassette in 1988 when Rhys and his bandmates were still in their teens.
The knack for melody and rock are here as is the undeniable sound of Welsh psych pop. Ffa Coffi Pawb played with the even younger Gorky's Zygotic Mynci in 1993.
But before I get out too far over my skis, let me say that this sounds more like The Mighty Lemon Drops or The Jesus and Mary Chain. But it's impossible not to see the line from Ffa Coffi Pawb to Super Furry Animals.
This (and another album) are being released by Ara Deg. Apparently Kliph Scurlock did some post-production work before the reissue. This was originally produced by Gorwel Owen.
