D + R for Saram if you can 👀💜
Listen, I may or may not have cried bc I wrote like half of something and then lost it bc my computer is garbage. I was also listening to a very emotional part of naddpod too so that might have been it also.
Battle wounds + “What do you mean you’re fine THIS IS NOT FINE”
When Aram gets the all clear to join field assignments, it’s with the understanding that he is 1) a fully trained agent who passed the weapons test, 2) is equipped with a company issued service weapon, and 3) very rarely put into a situation that would get him into trouble.
The team is well aware that Aram can take care of himself, but they do their best to keep him out of situations that could lose control and he is almost never assigned something dangerous.
The meeting is between a group of men looking for someone to fudge some numbers for them and the FBI who had been the ones to intercept the request. Since Aram is the best with numbers and computers, he’s the one sent to meet with them as the hacker they’re hoping to hire.
Unfortunately, the meeting is clearly a set up, evidenced by the fact that they attempt to shoot Aram as soon as he shows up. He’s ducked behind a car now, bullets ricocheting around him as Samar and Ressler demand a sit rep in his ear.
There’s a pause in the shooting for a moment and Aram takes a chance to glance around. He can see two of the three men ducked behind cars across the street but he can’t pin down the last one. Still, the lull in firing means he should take his chance now.
The van that Samar and the team are in is just down the street and he can already see members of a tactical team slipping into shadows to flank the men shooting at him. He gives a heads up to Samar and ignores her request that he stay where he is.
The pain that blooms across his shoulder is the worst he’s ever felt, even the time he broke his ankle on the neighbor’s trampoline. A fire spreads over his chest and his breath catches in his throat as he stumbles across the sidewalk and behind another car.
“Aram! Are you alright?!” Samar’s voice is full of worry and he hates that, hates that he did that.
“I’m fine,” he grits out between his clenched teeth. “Just a tiny bit shot.”
”What do you mean you’re fine? This is not fine!” He knows she’s more than likely getting ready to hop out of the van to get to him herself, so he does his best to reassure her.
“Samar, it’s okay.” He reaches up with shaking fingers to gingerly press on both sides of his shoulder. “It’s a through and through. And I can still move my fingers,” he says, clenching his first painfully.
Over the comms, he hears a scoff and then the leader of Alpha team letting them know that the suspects are down. It’s a nanosecond later that the doors of the van burst open and Samar walks quickly down the street. Aram would run to her if he didn’t think he’d pass out on the way.
Samar looks more worried than mad which Aram is thankful for, but that doesn’t mean he’s completely off the hook. He reaches for her as she approaches, resting his forehead to hers when she steps into his space.
“You’ll listen to me next time I say to stay down,” she says, leading him to a waiting ambulance.
