“....Strawberry shakes.” It was a very specific hated gift, and one with a story behind it if his reaction was any indication. “I... don’t have the best indigestion system. Shakes tend to be rough on my system because of how they’re made, but I found this out with a strawberry shake. The experience was uh,” Soseki chuckled, though it came out more mildly scared than amused, “well, it made a lasting impression.” Now they just reminded him of that incident.

❃.✮:▹❁ — Nani the heck? Leuda had an arcade too? Oh, man, did Komari make a mistake when she chose Arcadia to live?

The brunette stood outside the entrance, debating whether or not she should go in. On one hand, it was something she wanted to check out. Maybe she could get into gaming, become famous  and get paid for it even!

On the other, what would her father say? Sure, they weren’t on the best of terms, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t actively trying to rebel at whatever opportunity she had. 

Despite these conflicting feelings, she found herself gravitating towards the door and the next thing she knew, she was inside and met with a dim room contrasted with bright neon lights, hyped up music, the kind she had never imagined she’d hear in a lifetime, and lots of machines that she supposed were the games. 

It was like culture shock, all of it, seriously. Komari noticed that up ahead, there was this redhead on one of these games and from the looks of it, she looked pretty decent at it considering the amount of tickets spewing out of the machine. 

Casually, she strolls up and watches from a closer view. It looked sort of easy, but she was sure that in practice it was rather difficult just like any other skill. 

“Whoa...” She let out softly in awe.

Out of all the horrors he’s seen in his life, starting with the traumatizing house fire that kicked off his burning hate as a child?

Well.

“Meg got…” This memory in particular was especially painful to recollect, “attacked once, by a dragon. She had been hurt pretty badly, out on an adventure with some guy.” He scoffs at that, still pissed at how incompetent the bastard had been.

But then, he sighs. “Seeing her in that hospital bed like that… I think that was when I started to realize I felt more than simple friendship for her. Realized that I didn’t want her to go. Not like everyone else I cared about in life…” He grimaces. “I wanted to protect her, and keep her safe. By my side.”

And losing her? That’d be the scariest thing he would ever face.

•｡ ✿ “𝓗ow do you perceive myself?” Sofia echoed the question softly, contemplating on how to answer the question whilst gazing at herself from an introspective lens. Growing up, it was always at the forefront of her mind that she needed to make a positive first impression so that others perceived her as a polite and dutiful young lady - representing the de Sainte-Coquille with honor; however, she hardly considered the significance in how she perceived herself - for it had been dependant on what others saw that determined what she saw.

𝒜nd with that, ever so naturally, the first two people emerged into view inside of her head - gracing her lips with a tender smile. “I perceive myself to be an unfaithful wife and aloof mother, as well as a disloyal sister and selfish daughter - but also… I am not imperfect.” She thought of her status and wealth that made her family - and herself - renowned, especially of how that made some people perceive her to be pompous; however, that could not be farther from the truth. “I am just like no one else.”
