At first Percy was pleased to be alone with Penelope but when more stumbled into the small compartment along with that of Callum Blackwood, he could feel all his confidence drain. It had been some time since he was alone with Penelope and the way Callum sat beside her but Percy feel unnerved. He understood the need for people to come together for the defining day but Percy had thought Callum wouldn’t be in the same car. After excusing himself from his group, Percy found himself able to breathe again after closing the compartment door. He hoped he wasn’t gone too long as he was looking forward to a nice lunch sandwich but maybe before he should purchase something in the lounge car. 

Percy wasn’t paying attention and nearly ran into someone. He chuckled at the expense and tried moving to the left and right, only to be mirroring the other person’s moves. “Um, right,” Percy commented, his tone deflated and slightly irritated as he just stood to one side and made a hand gesture. “Are you...are you going to the lounge car as well?”

The idea of a train similar to the Hogwarts express celebrating the start of the new school year seemed interesting to her as it didn’t seem like a big party in a crowded room where she was pressed against people she didn’t know. Astoria thought to sit in a compartment with Susan, make a nice day out of it or introduce Viktor to the trolley which had been her favorite part of the ride to school each year, but her parents had other ideas. She was to sit next to Draco and spend the day with him. Astoria thought about pretending to be sick and staying home but she knew Daphne would’ve still dragged her along. Lost in her thoughts she didn’t notice someone calling her name. “I’m sorry. What did you say?”

Harriet was seething. If there hadn’t been so many eyes around, the champagne glass in her hand surely would have snapped under the weight of her grip the moment that she caught sight of Charlie across the room. Charlie with another woman. Charlie flirting with another woman. She didn’t consider herself a jealous person, but the mere sight of him with someone else sent her into a frenzy of panic. Why did she care? She shouldn’t care. Their eyes met from across the room and she knew he was doing it to work her up. If he wanted to play games, she’d do it. He just didn’t know what he was getting himself into. The brunette veela turned to the first person she laid her eyes upon, her magic flowing through her veins. 

“As much as I love these parties, it’s dreadfully boring watching from the sidelines,” Harriet drawled softly, her gaze meeting the person’s at her side. Her next question wasn’t a question as much as it was a command. But most wouldn’t notice as she batted her eyelashes girlishly, innocently. “Dance with me?”

Octavia was icing Roman out of his own bloody life. They had barely spoken since he accused her of poisoning Susan. Something he was still unsure about. She had made some good points, and it did seem like something she would have avoided, taking the attention off her at her own wedding. But Roman couldn’t figure out who had done it, who would have put in the effort. Although, even if Roman didn’t fully believe Octavia had been involved, did that mean hew was going to apologise? No. Because he hadn’t been proven wrong. 

It was bad enough that he was in a cabin with Marcus instead of Roderick, but apparently Octavia had convinced both him and Rod not to speak to him. So he was forced to make small talk with Barnaby Lee. He didn’t have any particular opinion about Lee, but he’d prefer to be speaking with Rod. Octavia was driving him insane. She hadn’t spoken to him for days, and now was forcing others not to either. It had to stop. They weren’t children.

He’d been waiting for a private moment to speak to her, which had been difficult seeing she’d been avoiding him at all costs. Finally their compartment was empty, and Roman looked out the door to see her coming down the hall. When she got to him he reached out and pulled her into the compartment, shutting the door and standing in front of it so she couldn’t just flit off again. “Okay. Stop it. Stop with the icing. Who else have you told not to speak to me today? It’s getting ridiculous.”

Oliver couldn’t stop smiling, partly due to the alcohol but mostly due to his excitement of what just happened with Katie and him. They weren’t just each others dates, no, they got married. Was it quick? Definitely, but he didn’t care. It felt right. It was right. She was ‘it’ for him. Katie was his wife! Something so exciting was a reason to celebrate. Seeing someone he knew he walked over to them, big grin on his face. “Katie and I just got married!”

“Of course there’s a reason I’m not sitting next to my husband today. I’ve been missing my cousin Marcus and decided to keep him some company on the train ride. I feel like I haven’t seen him in forever. And we’re still in the same compartment. I don’t have to be glued to him, do I?”  All of this was true, but she was also still mad at Roman for saying she poisoned Sandra at their wedding and then not believing her when she told him it wasn’t her fault. So she decided to give him the silent treatment for a bit. Not that she could be outwardly disapproving of him in public, it wouldn’t shed a good light on their relationship, even if most people knew it was an arranged marriage.

Susan was enjoying the party alone, but it an added was thrilling element not knowing who everyone was. Almost as if it didn’t matter and they could mingle amongst one another without initial judgements. It was something they all desperately needed with growing tensions. The brunette was taking full advantage of the free food and drinks planning to fully enjoy her evening until it was time to leave. Given the grandeur of the party the food mimicked the posh atmosphere and it wasn’t exactly something Susan was used to. One of the treats causing her to spit the food into a tissue and throw it straight in the bin. A disgusted look covering her face as she went to warn the next victim of the passin tray. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Trust me they’re not as good as they look.” She whispered out of the corner of her mouth to the bystander, as not to offend the catering staff. Warning them before they made the same mistake she did and innocently pop the hors d'oeuvre their mouth.

Once he realized there was going to be a quidditch match throughout the day, Wade made sure to take advantage of it. He had told Susan he would only play a few games, but after playing two in a row, he was starting to feel he could take on more. It had been years since he played against someone like this. Of course there were times that he played against his friend and had played here before with Marcus, but the competitive spark was surfacing once again. It had been years since he played as a keeper and without any other distractions, it felt as if this game was tailored to his talents. His hand wasn’t threatened by any bludgers or Weasleys this time. He touched back down on the ground, broom in hand. For once, he had put effort into fixing his hair but the wind had mussed it from the games he had just played. 

“If you want to do two out of three we can,” Wade said with a grin and the confidence of someone who had just won against two others. “I’ll try to go easy on you this time, but no promises.”
