there are cards that i want (mingi) and cards that i do not want (generally non-mingi), i do not care if the one i have is of 'higher value' because it is wasted on me (by not having mingi on it)

Astarion fans exist on a spectrum

On one extreme end, people babying him and removing his agency/choices by deciding he needs to be coddled and protected, these people often infantalize or dig very heavily into attacking others regarding his relationship with sex, insisting on him being sex repulsed. This is extreme, as in, I've seen someone attacking an artist for drawing Gale surprising Astarion with a kiss because it "violates him to not show that he asked for consent first"

On the other extreme end, I see people treating him as a literal sex object with absolutely no regard for the character at all, essentially reducing him to a blow up doll and exclusively engaging with him as a character in exactly the way that he, in game, worries about/hates/confronts Tav about/leaves Tav over which toe is INTERESTING in that people seem able to completely dissociate from the character in favor of his looks

Now, fandom is as fandom does, and most of us land somewhere in the middle or nowhere on *this* line, and those who DO land in the extremes tend to defend their stance almost viciously so I'm half hesitant that even mentioning these things is gonna get me slammed

I have no stance that I'm willing to take on this I just wanted to point at it cause it's neat. People are neat.
