Nix, the goddess of Areoreos

She’s been around since the founding of the city centuries ago & worshipped nearly as long.  Other nations tend to view her as a demon and the religious of the city as a bunch of weird cultists...Unless they’re interested in securing Areoreos & their advanced magical prowess/technology as an ally/trade partner.  Then they keep their opinions to their damn selves or at least are polite about it.

She’s lived at the side of the royal family since its establishment but isn’t really directly involved with the running of the city?  She mostly sticks around with the church that’s been put up around her, accepting offerings of shiny things & travelling around to meet her devout/attend religious festivals.

Impish & silly but she loves her people & spreading kindness.

A long time ago, Nix's followers probably were a bit cultlike, with her collecting vulnerable people & grooming them to love her, because love sustains and empowers her and she was experienced enough with humans for that level of manipulation.

Over time she realizes it's kind of a shortsighted plan that will fall apart eventually, but also more importantly that it's a shitty thing to do. That love is not a one-way street and she wants to do better by her people & love them and be truly loved in turn & encourage them to love each other.

Anyways whether she's really a divine being or not she's incredibly powerful & only getting stronger
