Every Step You Take
Time's beauty showed in buds blooming, growing into a wonderful flower, capturing that delicate moment before it eventually withered and died. Rassilon knew of such a bud that came into blooming. He had watched her all her life, from the day he laid her down into the soft velvety bed in her time capsule, to the day she looked into the Untempered Schism. He watched her first courses in Gallifreyan History, and at the Day of Omega parade he stood right there on the other side of the street. He was always there, always watching. In the beginning his visits were rarely, so that he saw her grow and blossom with unearthly speed. But lately he tended to visit more often. Watching right there from the end of the corridor, from the window across the atrium, from the shadows of a silver leafed tree in the Memorial Gardens. He never hid, he never approached, but when she tried to get to him, he vanished and visited the year after, a month, a week, a day...
The little bud was blooming, such a wonderful flower she was.Too beautiful to wither, too important to be left alone. Rassilon came almost every week now, watching over Ithaca in her everyday life, knowing that she had begun to notice him a while ago.
So it came that he sat there in the Prydon Academy Library reading an old leather bound folio about the Dark Times, while he waited for her to arrive and do her assignments. And he was determined to stay this time.
