I've heard a lot about people being misdiagnosed with ADHD when it's actually OCD, but how often does it happen the other way around? Because I was diagnosed three years ago with OCD and we're only now starting to figure out it's actually ADHD, and I was wondering if this is a common thing.
Here’s an article about how OCD and ADHD can be mistaken for each other. It’s also entirely possible that you have both. As for the other question, do you engage in obsessive behaviors to compensate for your ADHD? That could explain how you could have been misdiagnosed. You also might still have OCD, but it’s gone into remission for the time being. Depression and anxiety disorders tend to wax and wane.
