@ofarkhxm He was nine the day SHE showed up. He wasn’t even aware that anyone new was scheduled to come today. If any of them had known, they would have been more prepared and he likely would have been hidden away to clean one of the backrooms or something. Instead he was sweeping the front deck, his face covered in dust and dirt and his pale blond hair matted. The boy’s piercing eyes would stand out though. They were the only part of him that didn’t seem ruined by this place, or perhaps it was this place that just made his gaze sharper.

It was the middle of the summer and the temperatures were almost dangerously high. The tattered rags he was wearing was sticking to him, making it obvious to anyone that he’d not been eating nearly enough. It was a wonder that the boy’s heart didn’t give out in this weather.
