Armand loves that old menace so much
Darcy's Devil's Minion Musings
I'm constantly baffled when I read posts wanting/expecting Armand and Daniel to have an abusive, even violent relationship. I just don't understand the rationale behind that.
Sure, Armand puts Daniel through the horrors in 1973, but Daniel was a stranger to Armand then. Daniel was just another nameless gay man that Louis picked up to fuck, suck and kill.
What happened on Divisadero had nothing to do with Daniel. It was all about Louis, and his ten hours of blather about Lestat, after Armand had spent decades trying to atone for Paris. Then Louis throws Armand's own trauma in his face and tells him how boring he is compared to Daniel.
Is it any wonder Armand wanted to throw Daniel around the room?
But once Armand and Daniel get to know each other, they fall in love and do all the "boring" domestic things. They don't beat each other up. They go to night classes and the movies. They visit friends. They hand out Halloween candy. They chat with their neighbors. All while Armand does everything he can to keep Daniel safe, well, and happy. Sure, there's the cuck chair. But that's only because Anne neutered her vampires.
Armand gets scared when Daniel's heart beats too fast. He cries when Daniel doesn't believe how much he loves him. He gives Daniel an amulet filled with his blood to keep Daniel safe and even warms the chain before he puts it around Daniel's neck so he's comfortable.
And when he turns Daniel it's because he can't bear the thought of a world without Daniel in it.
Armand's soft with those he loves.
He's romantic.
Did you see the way he looked at Daniel in Dubai?
So much yearning.
The art dealer in Paris clocked his fragility.
Louis didn't have a clue.
