This is my first time trying this type of puzzle as well, and I plan to do two more puzzles like this of increasing difficulty for the remaining 18 students. Enjoy!
DECLASSIFIED
Difficulty: 4
After an already long day in Class 3-E, Korosensei has insisted that nine students stay behind for extra assistance in various subjects. These students are Isogai, Okajima, Kayano, Kanzaki, Nagisa, Sugino, Terasaka, Maehara, and Okuda. Earlier, Korosensei took the time to plan a special seating chart for these nine students in a 3-by-3 grid, but Karma stole the list in a petty attempt to annoy his teacher. Conveniently, Korosensei remembers the following details about the seating arrangement, and insists that it is recreated. Using only the following statements, determine the intended seating arrangement. Assume that “adjacent” refers to two positions either directly in front and behind each other, or directly to the left and right and that “directly diagonal” refers to two positions that are one space in front/back and one space to the side of each other.
1) Maehara is adjacent to more students than Kayano is.
2) Nagisa and the student in the frontmost-rightmost seat are both adjacent to Okajima.
3) Kanzaki is not adjacent to Isogai.
4) Isogai sits in the row directly behind Maehara’s row, but not in the seat directly behind.
5) Maehara sits directly behind Okajima.
6) Okuda is not adjacent to Terasaka.
7) Terasaka is either directly in front of Isogai or directly in front of Okuda.
8) Kanzaki is adjacent to more students than Isogai and Sugino.
9) Kayano sits somewhere directly diagonal to Terasaka.
10) Sugino is in a row somewhere in front of Okuda’s row.
11) Kayano is in a column somewhere to the right of Terasaka’s column.
