   GUARDS HAVE HONOR. A code by which they work on, otherwise they would be no better than thugs or beaters. But mercenaries are taught to listen to no code, only walking upon the path set by their orders. It is a pity---she can offer no meaningless assurance that their alliance would be beneficial to both. All she can do is ask && then move on.

   “Talkative.” Less an accusation, more an observation. She has no MORE time to waste on convincing him to follow, only that leave needed to be taken && soon if any of them hoped to survive the invasion of enemies about to swarm in.

   “PITY.”

   THERE IS NO shame, she knows, in an honorable retreat. No shame in withdrawing from a battle when there is no hope of a possible solution. She understands that. Strategy has always been a strong foundation in her learning, && this is no exception. However, there is a difference between understanding && putting it into action.

   On one hand, she understands that it is his right to give in. On the other hand, she thinks ‘pity that’, thinks of what could have been accomplished had he not given up. Perhaps a revelation would have been found, a way to escape from what he perceived to be tying him down. But instead, he has given up, leaving her to watch the fireworks of the conclusion.

   “LOST BATTLE.” But, perhaps, he had not lost the war. She wonders, if she should attempt to prod him into attempting to return again?

It wasn't often that she was referred to or called a canary. But Dagger supposed once in a while was fine. Though... for him to say he's here to keep her safe... she had to wonder who or what impelled others to seek her head after all this time. Her arms crossed, a hand cupping her chin then. There wasn't-- or rather-- shouldn't be much of a price on her head. Maybe as someone who left the throne, but if it was because she's a summoner from Madain Sari... What of Eiko? ...Nay. She now has the protection of Lindblum. There was no need to worry about the young child.

“Is it truly alright? I’ve nothing to pay you for the services...” She responded. And it was true. Dagger does what she can to get by, thus her ways of asking others if they had favors needed to be done in order to be paid for it. Just so long as it wasn’t something out of her own capabilities, of course.
