ARROW comes to mind as an iconic American brand. The unabashedly preppy brand was established in 1851. It grew greatly in size and appeal. It has survived even into today. The brand markets itself off of its very American heritage. This is similar to its advertisements during World War II. The brand played up its American pride by linking itself to soldiers. At the bottom of many of the ARROW advertisements, there is a pitch for people to also buy war bonds. This set them apart from other World War II advertisements that we have spotlighted.
Our advertisements from World War II are all pulled from our student university newspaper’s archives, The Brown and White.
