I just want to say something really quick...
Do I think Xhaka needs to be stripped of his captaincy? NO
Do I think he needs to apologize for his actions? ABSOLUTELY NOT
Why? I’ll tell you why...
First of all, when Laurent turned his back on this club did all the fans expect or better yet demand an apology from him? NO THEY DID NOT! He should have had to apologize more for what he did in my opinion then Xhaka. You can’t be captain of a club and just absolutely turn your back on them and REFUSE to do what you are literally paid to do. That is far worse in my opinion then enticing the fans and pulling off your kit.
Xhaka didn’t do anything wrong in my opinion this weekend. He played a solid game until he was subbed off. He has had his ups and downs but what comes with that, FAN criticism that he shouldn’t have to deal with on a daily basis. Did he ask to be captain? No doesn’t sound like it. THE TEAM voted him and Unai backed it. Does he ask to play every match? No that’s not his choice that’s on Unai. When you continuously poke the bear what is eventually going to happen? It’s going to snap. I think that’s what happened on Sunday.
Xhaka puts up with so much shit from the fans. Have any of you ever read what the “fans” say about him either on his comments, on his tags or even under his wife’s stuff? It’s absolutely disgusting and he puts up with that daily. He SHOULDNT have to. And on Sunday when the fans booed him and were shouting obscenities at him, in my opinion he had EVERY FUCKING RIGHT to snap back. If it was any other player, we wouldn’t be having this discussion and it wouldn’t even be news, let’s be real.
I personally think the fans are directing all of their anger and frustration at the wrong people. It’s not the players faults. You can tell they are just as frustrated as the fans. ALL of this comes down to Unai and the higher ups. The higher ups should use their fucking brains and realize what is happening to this once great club and get rid of the source of all of this... Unai.
Why do I know it’s Unai? Because before he came we were a unified squad. Yeah we played like shit the last couple of years under Arsene but the tension was nothing like it is now around the club. He is ruining everything that was built before him. He’s pushing good players away and he’s favoring players that aren’t that great because he doesn’t want a play to “dictate his decisions.” Like what the hell? Play the player who is best and if one player under performs a match, make him sit and play someone else in that position. That is literally how you find out the best person for the spot and what works and what doesn’t. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out but I mean I don’t know.. apparently is does?
