If Jazz had a prehistoric alt-mode, it'd probably be a Didelphodon. Didelphodon was one of the earliest mammals, and one of the first mammals that could actively hunt the young of most therapod and non-therapod dinosaurs. They were large, by Mesozoic standards, marsupoid mammals that used the cover of darkness to hunt.

They also supposedly nurtured their young, at least by current scientific theory.
