10. Which one staresat the other's booty like "damn" and how does the other react whencatching them?
Artemis is definitely more likely to ogle Vetra instead ofthe other way around, but she’d focus more on her shoulders and thighs than herbooty (let’s be honest, turians tend not to have much to look at there). WhenVetra catches her, Artemis just leans into it and whistles or makes asuggestive remark, and Vetra has no idea how to handle it and basically justturns into pile of blushing tuxedo tails. Artemis knows how her flirtingaffects Vetra, so she makes sure to do it when they’re alone to keep it ablushing-in-a-good-way kind of moment.
20. Say they werecuddling on the bed while listening to record player playing the background.Which song is playing?
That would depend on the mood. If they’re keeping it chilland lazy, probably Top 40. If cuddling is step one of a ten-part plan, theyhave a rotation of different playlists, from fun and flirty to slow andromantic.
30. Do they dancetogether?
Oh absolutely! Vetra still has a difficult time lettingherself have fun in front of others, so Artemis tries to ease her into it byrandomly turning up the music and offering her hand to invite Vetra to dancewith her. At first, she sticks to Latin music because it’s supremely easy todance to and Artemis has a least a pedestrian knowledge of the steps to therumba, salsa, cha-cha-cha, and mambo. Eventually, when Vetra hears certainbeats starting to play, she knows exactly what Artemis is planning, so shesighs and makes a show of reluctantly getting up, but she loves it more andmore every time Artemis initiates one of their impromptu dance parties.
40. Who would fightin honor for the other if someone would insult them?
I guess this depends on your definition of “fight.” Artemiswould absolutely headbutt anyone who said a cross word about her tolgirlfriend—including, and perhaps especially, a krogan. Vetra might not reactin the moment, but the person who had the gall to insult her girlfriend wouldsuddenly and inexplicably be completely unable to get their orders deliveredcorrectly and on time, or have their rations suddenly changed to the packagesof freeze-dried meals that absolutely no one wants to eat, or find their nameon a Do Not Travel list because they’re under investigation for smuggling.There’s more than one way to hurt someone :P
I have a new Ryder! I actually created her a time ago, but I changed her so many times. Now I’m finally happy with her appearance, I think. And I will probably be playing with her whenever I have time. I’m still debating if I should romance Vetra or Reyes with her. I really want to see their romances! Either way, I will have more characters eventually to romance everybody I want to. xD
You know how they talk about coma patients being able to hear what’s going on around them?
I present some writing for Suvi Week AU Day, where Artemis’ brother Pol is the Pathfinder and Artemis is the one stuck in the med bay.
Like a good twin, Pol visits Artemis whenever he can. Whenever he can’t, though, he sends one of his friends to talk to her for him.
Artemis is fine with it. It breaks up the horrifying monotony of life in a coma, and then... there’s a woman with a beautiful voice and too much information about Heleus rocks that captures her heart without trying.
Sort of unfinished. Definitely unedited. I might flesh this out later.
Her world is a steady series of beeps and murmurs from too far away to fully understand. It’s peaceful, in its way. She always did like the quiet of an early morning when she woke before her alarm. This isn’t so different, it just… it won’t end.
Sometimes she feels like screaming. She does, in her own mind. For Pol, for Harry, for her mother, for anyone who’ll help her.
Sometimes she just… it’s hard to tell if she sleeps, but she’s less aware. She’ll come to and realize Harry’s at her side, his hand on her arm, his low voice letting her know that he’s checking her vitals once more.
Sometimes Pol visits. He sits by her side and tells her all about what’s been going on--he talks about the kett, about the new planets, about the remnant and the monoliths and the vaults he finds. He tells her about the cute engineer on his ship, about how beautiful the angara are, about the smuggler he met that could charm the pants off of anyone (except him).
He sits by her side and keeps up a steady stream of chatter for as long as he can, but everyone needs him. The galaxy rests on his shoulders. He says it once, then laughs, like it’s a joke. But it’s serious--Missy knows this. She can tell from the strain in his voice, from how Harry sometimes says Pol’s name on a heavy sigh.
And then one day there’s another man there, quietly joking with Pol. It’s Gil, Pol says, Gil Brodie.
“Your brother owes me a lot of credits,” Gil says, his fingers calloused on hers. Missy’s has a lot of practice reading people’s voices since she was almost woken up. He sounds nervous, a little tremor under the affected confidence. “You need to wake up so he’ll pay me back.”
There’s a scuffle and some giggling. “He cheats, too,” Gil says, though it sounds like he’s trying to talk around Pol’s hand on his mouth. “SAM helps him.”
They sound cute. Missy wants to cry.
Pol returns the next day with someone else, a man with a beautiful voice and more enthusiasm than she’s heard since arriving in Andromeda. “I cannot wait to speak with you properly!” Jaal says. “Apollo says you will love Voeld and that you can show us something called ice skating?”
“I’ve asked you not to call me that,” Pol snaps, a bit of a whine behind his voice. Jaal’s booming laugh lets Missy know this isn’t the first time they’ve had this conversation today.
Cora visits too, though she mostly talks about the search for the Leusinia, and Harry takes to reading news bulletins to her at the end of the day.
Days blend together. Nights are quieter. Missy practically vibrates with the rage that builds up with every moment she’s trapped in her own traitorous body.
And then.
The most beautiful thing she’s ever heard.
“Hello?” A woman’s voice, heavily accented, and soft fingers trailing down Missy’s arm. “Ahh--Ryder was supposed to meet me here and introduce us? He wanted us to get to know each other.”
A scrape as the woman moves the chair closer next to the bed, then the fingers are back, lightly resting on Missy’s wrist. “My name is Suvi. I’m the science officer on the Tempest. I don’t know if Ryder--well, Pol, you’re a Ryder too aren’t you--” she stops and laughs at herself. “I don’t know if he told you I would be coming.”
A pause, as though Suvi might be waiting for a response. Missy tries to. I can’t remember if he did or not, she thinks, as loudly as she can. Please don’t leave me alone. Keep talking. About anything. Tell me about you.
Suvi clears her throat. “I guess… I can tell you about my research? I sent your brother part of my analysis on the microfauna and bacteria native to Heleus, but I don’t think he read it…”
She continues, explaining about her researching using words Missy doesn’t know, with obvious confidence and complete understanding, obviously unconcerned with the fact that her audience can’t respond.
Missy can hear the smile in her voice. She can feel Suvi’s fingers tapping against the back of her hand whenever she gets excited over some fact, or remembers something else she needs to tell.
When you can’t make yourself happy, try to make other people happy so maybe their happiness will infect you (temporary solution to a larger problem, I know).
