Her (2013) explores some of the ways artificial sentience will likely change how we perceive relationships. The film’s approach is delicate, full of the kinds of small delights, ugly moments, and fears we normally experience in romance, now expressed in new ways. The story is sweet and surprisingly moving. Joaquin Phoenix is a master storyteller of an actor. Amy Adams is a favorite. Scarlett Johansson's voice acting has a way of making you forget that you’re listening to an actor. This is a gentle, remarkably deep, and uniquely beautiful movie.

BOOTRSTRAPPING TTRPG Release!

BOOTSTRAPPING is, at long last, officially released!

It is a 2-player game about the accidental creation of a sentient AI and its path to omnipotence, as seen through its interactions with humanity. It is a game about values, teaching, and the impact of nurture versus nature.

Bootstrapping is a 54-card deck of 7 unique microgames, called Chapters. The first and last Chapters are set, but the order and number of middle Chapters will be up to your choices. It takes about 1-2 hours to play. Play is highly asymmetrical , and is a very cerebral, intimate experience.

It is one of my favorite games I've ever designed, despite its original iterations being over eight years old by now. I met my partner through playing this game. It is especially inspired by Ex Machina, Her, Ghost in the Shell, The Sundered Land, and Firebrands.
