More (random) CC Batch HCs - this time including Rex!

When Alpha-17 first got his designated batch of CCs to train, he made the mistake of saying to these insane ferel cadets that "you'll only be the best when you can take me down". He was not prepared to then have these tiny 4yr olds (8-9 standard) sneakng up on him (how are they sneaking up on him!?) And scratching, biting, kicking and attempted fly tackling the giant alpha clone. He doesnt go down till they actually earn it when they are older but DAMN do some of their teeth hurt (lookin and Fox and Wolffe)

In relation to ^ - Alpha went into the "training CCs" task with zero intentions of playing nice, going easy, or acting as anything more than a simple trainer. But after just a week of the cadets putting some actual decent strategy into their attempt takedowns, adopts them all. (This makes the batch even MORE determined to take down Alpha cause now thats not just their trainer, but their Buir)

We all know the fanon fav of Cody finding Rex and bringing him into the batch. But I hc that Cody, all of 6-7yrs old, was fully planning on adopting Rex as his ad so he could keep him (they are only months apart in age btw) his plan was foiled though when Alpha took one look at this blond CT, who has not gotten decommissioned yet, is scrappy and smart, and adopts him on the spot. Cody is both pissed (HEY i found him first!) and also so happy (wait, that means hes my vod'ika now!)

Cody WILL revolve his entire schedule around the sunrise (if there is a sunrise to see). Its his form of caf. If he doesnt see the sunrise his entire day is ruined and everyone knows not to do anything to face the commanders ire on those days

The Shebse batch/squad (ive seen a few fics/post refer to them as this and I love it) were very much like the Domino squad as cadets. They were always walking a thin line of decommissioning. They were all too emotional (in their own ways), to quick to react on these emotions or be frozen by them. Too easily attached. Primes notice of them, as well as their individual test scores, are the only things that save them from decomissioning failing. However, their experiences with Prime, soon followed by their training with Alpha-17 helped them grow into some of the best Commanders in the GAR

^ this is partially why Cody is collecting any "defective" clones he finds. (Rex, clone force 99, etc)

Fox and Rex have regular holocalls/meet-ups for the sole purpose of exchanging blackmail like trading cards ("i got a page 3 level scandal on that senator that made Tup cry when you guys did a rescue/escort. What you got for it?" "Hmmm that does sound VERY appealing, I dont know if its of the same value as ohhh i dont know... the security footage of the "buir off" Alpha and General Plo had over Wolffe-" "Fuck you! How did you get your hands on that!?" "Doesnt matter how. Throw in what you know about Cody and Kenobi and its yours." "Deal!")

Rex as a cadet/teenager, sometimes had trouble sorting through his thoughts and emotions and he tended to work himself up to panic attacks (thats what insane levels of perfectionism will do to ya when you fear any mistake may end your life) and Ponds became his go to brother during these monents. The others tried too hard to fix or help or calm or distract- but Ponds just offered silent steady company and a safe calm presence and allowed Rex the time to ground himself and sort his thoughts into something more manageable.

did you know: sentai suits can be machine washed because they're just spandex but kamen rider suits (and kaijin suits) can't because of the plastic and foam parts and they get FUNKY so they spray them with diluted sake like theater costumes to disinfect/kill the funk and just keep going

The radiodont Peytoia was originally classed as a jellyfish as fossils of its oral cone were mistaken for one. I actually have an old book with an illustration that shows this old hypothesis.

Ooh, this one’s tricky! It depends on when in the series you look at her. For the most part though, Giana is very, very willing to put the needs of her peers above her own. Especially people she cherishes!!

Hey, (sorry idk what the social protocol for asks is - Im new to this) but I was wondering what your favourite hc is for how being a padawan worked in the jedi temple? No matter how outlandish or non-canon it is, something fun! Thank you xx

Hi! I am kinda new to posting so honestly, im astounded im even getting asks so thank you! I love thinking about the day to day life inside the temple or the small details that could make up the Jedi culture and religion. Especially with the younglings and padawans!

I think a favorite of mine is actually a pretty common one surrounding Padawan braids/beads, but i have thought long and hard about this so im using your ask to rant about it lol (some of these HCs are a cumulation of details ive seen in other peoples art/fics so not all the credit is mine)

I think the Padawan Braids are a very sacred part of a padawanship. And I like to imagine there are a lot of customs surrounding a Padawans braid such as:

There is a special braiding ceromony for when a Jedi takes on a Padawan. During this ceromony, the Jedi Knight/Master will either braid the Padawans hair, or if they are of a species with no hair, gift a simple beeded "braid" that was carfully crafted/made by the Knight/Master. This part of the ceromony is private among the Knight/Master.

The more public aspec of this ceromony is among friends and lineage members. this is where the Jedi Knight/Master will gift an ornate bead or charm that is representative of the bond the Jedi and Padawan will have.

a Padawan's braid is sacred, it shows the journey of their training and maturity. ornate Beads are gifted during significant achievements throughout the Padawanship. there is a special charm that has the Jedi Order symbol on one side, and a marking representative of the achievement that granted the ranking of "Senior Padawan" on the otherside, that is gifted upon said promotion.

Because the padawan braids are sacred, it considered taboo for anyone other that the Master or Padawan to touch the braid. Some Jedi allow lineage permissions, especially if they are more involved in helping to train the padawan for what ever reason, but otherwise it is typically reserved for just the Jedi & Padawan duo.

idk if its a canon, fanon or legends quote, but the saying "If you go after the Padawan, make sure the Master is dead" is one of my favorite things and i think it also applies to the braid. To cut off a Padawan's braid is not only assult, but it is a very invasive feeling for the Padawan. There are very few Masters that would let such an offense go unpunished.

When the Padawan is ready to be Knighted, It is now the Padawan's turn to add an ornate bead to the end to represent their view of the bond shared with their Master. The Padawan is then the one to cut/remove the braid themselves, to signify that they have reached maturity, that they are ready to be on their own. They have learned and trained under their Master and are now ready to face the next steps of their journey. And then the Braid is gifted to the Master.

A really interesting fic I found recently is what truly spurred on my love for the Padawan Braids. Beskar and Braids by cousinD on ao3, currently unfished but an AMAZING fic (idk if they have a tumblr otherwise i'd tag em)

General kenobi is a first of a lot, first jedi they met, first redhead to exist to them, first kind man to them, and now! first naked natborn they witness.

(Mullet era-Wan so he's like 35ish) It definitely wasn't anything Obi-Wan would have thought he'd be proud of, but honestly? he's kind of honored to hold that place for many of the clones.

He just hopes he didn't dissapoint (he knows he didn't, every jedi in a hundred miles radius could feel Kenobi definitely did not dissapoint)

Carranger is funny in a very different way to go onger. Like i cant quite explain it but the shows honestly have completely different vibes while still both being "the funny car sentais". I think it mostly comes down to go onger is a very earnest slice of life-esq show, while carranger is very tongue in cheek and absurd (not trying to like, mean anything in particular by this, just thought about the stupid car shows and got excited)

No I'm glad to receive this information thank you. I kind of suspected was the case from the scant details I have of the former and the (as of writing) few episodes I've seen of the latter. Anyway I love absurd shit I gotta get on this asap.

Oh I didn't know Eagle II is played by the same actor as Tsuruhime's dad. Bird family.

In the second episode of Walking With Monsters there's a giant spider that shows up that was originally meant to be Megarachne, but quite far into production Megarachne was reclassified as a sea scorpion, so the voice over in the final cut describes it as a "Mesothelae spider", despite being much larger than and not really resembling said group of spiders.

Here's an old model from the Natural History Museum of Geneva compared to a modern eurypterid reconstruction.
