Practice Presentations & Art Statement #3
Tonight during class we will talk more about Senior Thesis Exhibitions and the Senior Thesis Exhibition Presentations. To help you prepare for these presentations we will be doing a practice version in class.
Heres the details of the practice presentations assignment structure:
Please be prepared to present the content of your Senior Thesis Exhibition Presentation for 10 minutes with time following the presentation for feedback from professor and peers.
Practice presentations will occur during class time on Thursday April 5th. We will our regular classroom, Rood 51 for these presentations.
The schedule is as follows:
Claire presents at 7:45pm / Jacob presents at 8:15pm / Bri presents at 8:45pm / Lauren presents at 9:15pm
Practice presentations should be done in keynote, powerpoint, google slides or comparable presentation format. These presentations should be presented on your own technology. Technical difficulties will take away from you valuable feedback time so please insure that your presentation is ready to be presented at the scheduled time.
Structure your presentation to take as close to 10 minutes as possible. Practice your presentation before hand so that you are aware of your timing and can stick to the time allotted. Presentations which are under or over the 10 minute guideline WILL NOT BE GRADED.
Presentations should follow as closely as possible to the format and structure you will be using for your actual presentation, thus they should include the following:
PowerPoint/Keynote Presentation
1.) Artist Influences (3 images on the same slide with artist name only)
2.) Past Work Samples (that relate somehow to your thesis exhibition)
3.) Current Work Samples (that relate to thesis exhibition)
4.) Exhibition Design (floor play layout)
Students are also required to have a copy of your printed supplemental materials for your professor and peers, as you will be expected to for the actual presentation.
These printed supplemental materials are:
1.) Art Statement, 1 page
2.) Senior Show Written Proposal, 1 page, indicating: Conceptual Framework / Materials/Media/Techniques / Presentation Strategy / Questions/Concerns
Plan to have 4 copies of your art statement and Written Proposal so that we as a class can offer feedback on these materials in addition to the oral presentation.
The Art Statement you will use for your presentation will be the final art statement we write for the semester. Consider this statement your the first draft of the art statement meant to accompany the body of work you plan to present in your Senior Thesis Exhibition. Write this statement about this particular body of work. This statement should be anywhere from 1-3 paragraphs in length, no more than a page.
