MEET THE ARTIST: Adonis the Ace(right) and Dolo the Hippie(left)
Age: 18
Adonis and Dolo are both local artist from Atlanta. Their music prompts positivity and good vibes. The duo started music at very young ages, being influenced by musicians such as Kanye West and OG Maco. [Dolo] “I always wrote poems or drew when I was younger. The first time I ever rapped was off the ‘Day N Nite’ beat by Kid Cudi in middle school.” [Adonis] “Coming from a family that is musically talented, I’ve always done music.” The two see art as a universal language, but music is the way they best express emotion, show stand points, simply tell a story, or act as a stress reliever. Their music has a message and they make it very clear that positivity and creativity are their main goals. They seek to change hip-hop by bringing new values to the community. [Adonis] “I want to make sure that everyone know what positivity should be and take as much negativity out of the world as possible.” [Dolo] “Hip-Hop today is lacking a message. Anybody can do drugs or have sex, but we want to send out true messages and tell people ‘Hey, this is going on in the world and this is what you should be looking at.’ That’s how you really make an impact.” The duo is definitely on their way to making a huge impact on the hip-hop community soon. I suggest keeping an eye out for them.
