Today is the 3rd day of National Arts and Humanities Month. Each year, @americans4arts encourages people to share images celebrating the arts in their lives. Today's theme is #ArtsVote. We look back to 2018, when Christina Mazurkevich designed a sticker at the request at the Alexandria Commission for the Arts. Everybody meet Amir Whitaker, an amazing staff attorney at @aclu_socal , focusing on education equity and funding for the kids who gotta go to school in the hood. While you were probably getting creative and philosophical off that recreational this past 4-20th 🔥👀🌿, Amir was reminding people how the creativity in schools that serve the Black communities were being neglected but, that’s about to change now! CONGRATS 🍾 🎉 to you and your colleagues at #ACLU (and everyone else involved) for settling $150 MILLION with @l.a.u.s.d to provide $3 million to 50 of the highest need schools for additional art programs! Los Angeles Arts Advocates! ArtsDay is now on Wednesday, April 19, with a City Council Chamber presentation and delegate visits at LA City Hall. Our gallery owner will be interviewing LA City Council members on their services to public art projects and arts education in the area, under the direction of @arts4la. We want thank our local officials for their continued public investment in arts and culture, to encourage them to increase the resources to neighborhood arts centers, and to remind them of the value of arts education in workforce development and of the need for a robust cultural infrastructure for the continued health and prosperity of Greater Los Angeles #ArtsMonth2017 #ArtsDay2017 #LauraKormanGallery #ArtsVote #ArtsAdvocate #LosAngeles (at Los Angeles City Hall)

The proposed budget set forth by President Trump is abhorring. He wants to fund his wall (that won’t work) and increase military spending (for what?) by eliminate programs that fund the arts, sciences, education, museums, libraries.

Call your reps. Ask them to press on this. Who are we as a nation if we attack our cultural and educational institutions? What is the point of putting a wall around our nation and increasing military spending when we chip at the very things that make us human?
