After my demise, if any of you name your kids Aruvi, I'd be happy. That Aruvi. Tell her not to trust anyone or anything blindly. Tell her to reason everything and tell her to be kind to all. It would make me happy.

ARUVI (2016)
okay so this is kollywood not bollywood, i hope that is okay? anyway, i would like to talk about the tamil movie 'aruvi'. first, it's anti-capitalist, so <3 second, the main character, aruvi, gives off so much lesbian energy and i fully believe her and her friend emily (who is canonically a trans woman!!!) are in love. in the movie, aruvi ends up with this bland-ass guy who ruined her life and ughh. the movie deals with rape and HIV/AIDS so TW for that though.
Oohhhh first non bollywood movie!! (iirc which I usually don't)
Any song from it you recommend for me to microdose on the movie?
The ACT of JOKER
"The worst part of having mental illnesss is people expect you to behave as if you dont" - Joker. But I'm trying to run along with the world, posting something on being clowns. Hence, The act of joker. Experimented by Tamil artists: Applauded beyond awards and cinematic universe. Before #Joaquinphoenix or #HeathLedger were born, let's keep aside when they landed into acting. Presenting the clowns of circumstances, #NADIGARTHILAGAM( the pride of actors) and #ULAGANAYAGAN( Hero of World(cinema)) who have held grief and failures behind the mask and make-up they wore. Here are two excerpt from Rajapart Rangadurai(1973) and Aboorva sagotharargal(1989).

Take a close look at the point of inflection when grief hits Sivaji but applause on the audience front rise. So it does to Kamal when he looks at the mask as a mirror. The lyrics penned by acclaimed Kannadasan and Vaali emphasis their causes and guide the actors emote exponentially within limited time. When I was in awe of Joaquin when he turns around, smears his blood in that legit joker smile. These images popped in. The fan moments in celebrating Joker make #Oscar a sure deal. Why would I summon scenes from 80s? Why refer Joker to jokers? Because Joker is trending. But, the intent of discussing these song scenes back from the 80's made in #Kollywood( Tamil movie Industry) is to break the perception of Bollywood as Indian films. An to widen the perspective towards non-conventional movie making. If interested, see inside how things work. Know potential of Tamil cinema lately? Here's a few to start with. Pariyerum perumal. (Horse mounting Deity) Super Deluxe. Aruvi(Waterfall) Kurangu bommai (Monkey doll) Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru(16 hemispheres/16 extremities) Iraivi(Goddess) Maanagaram(Metropolis) Raatchasan(Demon) Magamuni(great sage) 8 Thottakkal (8bullets) PS: turn on captions/ download subtitles.
I want to take a moment and appreciate the Tamil film industry. They recently came out with the movie ‘Aruvi’, which has a transgender character as an important supporting character. In fact, the actress herself is transgender.
The important part is that in the movie, she was simply portrayed as a woman. Nothing different. There were a couple lines about her being a transgender and one of the comedians made a couple offhand comments that could be seen as offensive, but were obviously to highlight the insignificance of her gender in relation to the main plot.
I thought that with India’s strong homophobic tendencies, that this movie wouldn’t be received well, but it was and I didn’t hear much at all about the transgender character.
I applaud the director for being brave and including such a daring character choice in ‘Aruvi’ and I thank the media for not making such a huge deal about it.
