Accidental Siblings AU Headcanon #14
[Ramblings related to my fic, Accidental Siblings.]
So, I've discussed in a previous headcanon how Bokushi would abuse the fact that he's only a 5 y/o on paper to get away with things since only his family and friends know the truth. But I was thinking about how funny it would be for Seijuro or maybe even Masaomi to take advantage of Bokushi being a 5 y/o to get out of certain situations, too.
I can just imagine if the Akashi family is at some boring ass event that's being hosted by one of Masaomi's business partners or something, and they're trying to make an exit but people keep dragging them into conversations before they can make it to the door. Bokushi would probably have been sent to play with the other kids at the event if there were any, but he'd be on standby waiting for one of them to give a signal that they want to leave and need Bokushi's help.
Once Bokushi gets the signal, he'll immediately begin acting like a child, walk up to the two of them, and complain that he's tired and wants to go home, to which they will immediately indulge his request and faux-apologize to everyone there for cutting the convo short but it's getting late and it's way past Bokushi's bedtime so they gotta go, oh no!!
This strategy has saved them from multiple boring events, and for each one Bokushi gets them out of, he demands some form of compensation for it. Could be anything from pocket money to his favorite food/sweets. His father doesn't know whether or not he should be impressed with how much of an expert negotiator Bokushi has become from this.

Being reincarnated with the body of a 5 y/o makes things more difficult than Bokushi lets on. He still retained all his knowledge and skills, but as a 5 y/o, sometimes he can be a bit clumsy. Like his coordination isn't always there, so he might drop or spill things because his body just refuses to cooperate with him (motor skills n all that), or since he's so used to being in the body of a 16 y/o, he may misjudge distance or height.
This is especially true in the case of basketball. He has to put extra strength into his passes and shots to make up for the lack of strength. And he pays extra attention when someone passes to him so he can catch it properly. So he REALLY becomes focused while playing to avoid rookie mistakes, but it takes a lot of effort on his part.
BONUS:
This is mainly just an afterthought, but I'm thinking about my own childhood and how back when my older siblings and I were kids, most of the plates and cups in our house were plastic and difficult to break. But now that we're adults, my mom has replaced all of it with glass/ceramic plates and cups since she doesn't have to worry about us dropping anything due to our lack of motor skills anymore. Imagine how funny it would be if Seijuro was doing that for Bokushi. 😂
And Bokushi would be so embarrassed by his lack of coordination because he's not a kid dammit but he just keeps dropping cups by mistake, and Seijuro doesn't want to trouble the staff by asking them to clean yet another pile of broken glass, and so his solution is to just get less breakable cups. At first, Bokushi was totally against the idea, but then he became somewhat appeased when Seijuro took him to the store and let him pick out whichever cups he wanted in whatever color he wanted. Only then did he finally give in.

I think as time goes on, and as baby Bokushi has more time to understand and explore his own interests, he'll slowly start building up his own collection of "toys" in his room that he plays with. So, here are some that I think he'd own.
Board games. Canonically Seijuro is a tabletop game nerd as seen from the Drama CD/Replace Plus chapters of the Teiko school festival, so I would think Bokushi is the same. He loves to use his head, and playing board games that require strategy would be his favorite. He takes great pleasure in roping other people into playing board games with him just to see if he can beat them. He spends very long periods of time reading the rules before starting games as well and will not hesitate to inform others when they're violating the rules.
Puzzles. It would be a perfect solo activity he could do in his room. And he doesn't go for the kiddie puzzles you can put together in 10 minutes. He likes getting those big puzzles that have upwards of 500-1000 pieces where the full picture displays a famous painting or something that he can spend time putting together across multiple days. Sometimes he could be in his room for hours sitting on the floor and putting pieces together if no one stops him. Seijuro may join him on occasion, and it becomes one of the ways they bond with each other.
Crossword puzzle books. Not necessarily a toy, but definitely something to help him pass the time. Again, he likes using his head, so crosswords would be right up his alley. I'd bet he likes solving crosswords in multiple different languages, too. One book for Japanese, one book for English, and if he has any other languages he knows (which I have a headcanon that he does), he'd have crossword puzzle books in those languages as well.
Rubik's cube. I don't think I need to explain why he'd own something like this, but I can see him solving one of these. Maybe he owns a few that are varying in grid size. So like a standard 3x3x3 and then he might have 4x4x4, 5x5x5, and so on. He likes to time himself to see how quickly he can solve it, too. If he beats his own records, Seijuro is the first person to be informed.
Playing cards. Again, Seijuro is canonically a tabletop game nerd, so playing cards is included in that. Bokushi would have regular playing cards of course, but I think he'd slowly start to add specialized cards for specific games and maybe even get specialized card sets for foreign games and learn the rules to those.
Legos. This one might be an indulgence for him because he had been fascinated by all the different things you could build with them but never had the time to indulge in a hobby like that when he was still sharing a body with Seijuro. So maybe Seijuro is the one who gets him his first set of Legos because he's seen Bokushi eyeing them in town when they passed by a store once. Bokushi's first set is one of those Lego flower bouquets and he liked building it so much that he periodically gets new elaborate sets to build. This is another one of those things that Seijuro does with him if he's around.
Anyway, these were just some of the ideas I had. If I think of any more toys and the like, I'll add them to this list. Or you can add your own!
Accidental Siblings AU Headcanon #2
[Ramblings related to my fic, Accidental Siblings.]
Just thinking about my Accidental Siblings fic, and I have this headcanon that Bokushi, despite detesting being on the receiving end of babying of any kind, is still very clingy to Seijuro because he's so used to sharing a body with him that he doesn't like the way it feels when they're apart.
So, like, if Seijuro were to talk to him as if he were a child, he would face Bokushi's wrath. But Seijuro has full freedom to put Bokushi in his lap, hold his hand, and carry him in his arms. Pretty much any type of skinship short of kisses is perfectly fine to Bokushi and, to an extent, is something he craves (only Mibuchi has kissing privileges x).
The thing is, Bokushi is bad at voicing things like this, so he'll never outright say he wants a hug or something. He'll kinda just walk up to Seijuro, look at him a certain way, and hope he takes the hint. Luckily for him, Seijuro is very perceptive, so he never has to worry about Seijuro not understanding what he wants, and Seijuro doesn't tease him for it, either. If he sees Bokushi wanting to cling to him, then he lets Bokushi cling without another word.
At first, Bokushi would only display this type of behavior if it was just him and Seijuro alone, but over time, he gets more comfortable being clingy wherever they happen to be. If they're out in town and Bokushi is tired of walking? No matter, he will simply turn to Seijuro and let himself be lifted into his arms.
If Bokushi is relaxed enough, he'll fall asleep, which Seijuro is secretly SO fond of because that means Bokushi trusts him to keep him safe and secure. Like, he'll feel the way Bokushi goes lax against him, and he just gets this overwhelming urge to protect. He very much loves being a big bro.
Anyway, I just wanted to put this out there because I had so much brainrot regarding this fic of mine that I just had to release it from the dungeons of my mind.
Accidental Siblings AU Headcanon #13
[Ramblings related to my fic, Accidental Siblings.]
Bokushi has his own room, of course, but whenever Seijuro is visiting home for any period of time, Bokushi prefers to sleep in Seijuro's room instead. He's still kind of not over the whole "separate body" thing just yet. So he will try to be close to Seijuro whenever he can because that's what he's used to and also when he feels more comfortable.
Because he's still working on being verbal about things like that, he tries to be sneaky about how he worms his way into Seijuro's room at night. It could be something as simple as wanting to play a game of shogi and suddenly "oh look now that the game is finished it's pretty late so I might as well sleep here." Basically, he'll find any excuse to come in and then any excuse to stay.
Seijuro pretends not to know what Bokushi is actually up to because, between the two of them, only Seijuro knows what it's like to not share a headspace with anyone. Bokushi was created after his mother passed, which meant there were 10 or 11 years where Seijuro's headspace was his alone. Bokushi has never experienced that. He has always shared a headspace with Seijuro and so the transition from being an alter in Seijuro's mind to being a tangible human being with his own independent thoughts is jarring and Seijuro can understand why it kinda freaks Bokushi out, even if he doesn't say it out loud.
So yes, similar to my second headcanon I made some time ago, Bokushi becomes a little bit more attached to Seijuro to make up for the natural silence in his head. Dare I say it's borderline separation anxiety, but not quite as severe. It's a similar concept, though. Bokushi just feels...odd...whenever Seijuro isn't present.
