Psalm 29:2 (ESV) - Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.
Ascribe to the Lord Glory
A Psalm of David.
1 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendour of holiness. 3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. 8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!” 10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king for ever. 11 May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace! — Psalm 29 | English Standard Version Anglicised (ESVUK) The Holy Bible, English Standard Version Copyright © 2001 by Crossway Bibles, a division of Good News Publishers. PSALMS S.O.A.P. ~ PSALM 29
Tuesday, 8/29/23
SCRIPTURE:
Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in holy array. ~ Psalm 29:1-2
OBSERVATION:
It can be hard sometimes to publicly "ascribe" - give credit to - what the Lord's doing in and around me...
...especially with folks who know my stumbling and fumbling and see that as "proof" of my imperfections...
Yet He knows all my imperfections - even more than I do - even some I'm unaware of (or at least don't want to admit to myself)...
...and He still wants me to worship Him in "holy array" - proper dress...
...as only Jesus can "dress" me - forgiven and justified to stand before Him...
APPLICATION:
Give Him credit whenever and wherever possible...
Give Him glory...
Give Him thanks for His strength in my weaknesses...
Worship Him in Jesus's cleansing...
PRAYER:
Strong and glorious Father God - I ask forgiveness for saying all kinds of things, yet keeping quite quiet at times when I should give You all the credit for the events in my life... for reducing things I worried about to mere "nothings..." May Your Holy Spirit continue to urge me to recognize You at every opportunity, to give You praise for Your goodness and grace... In Jesus's Name, Father, and for Your worshipful praise...
For Him... for you... for yours... because of Him...

What are we singing?
Deuteronomy 32:3b-4.
“Ascribe greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect; all His ways are just. A God of faithfulness without injustice, righteous and upright is He.”
Part of a song of Moses sung at end of life. What we sing then is more significant than what we sung earlier.
What are we singing?
This week, keep your song in tune with who God is.
