Hey I just have a quick question about the post you made earlier about asexuals not being able to identify as queer. Can you explain why we can't? From my understanding queer is an umbrella term for anyone who isn't straight or cisgendered. It seems to me that anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community has a right to identify as queer so what exactly is preventing us from labeling ourselves as queer? Sorry if this came out as aggressive, I was just curious on why you think this.
nah ur good! well, queer was originally a slur directed toward gay and trans ppl, and was never directed toward specifically asexual and/or aromantic ppl. for example, homoromantic asexuals can reclaim it because of their romantic attraction, but not their sexual attraction, if that makes sense.

as an asexual and aromantic person myself, i completely understand other asexual/aromantic people’s desire to use the term, as they understand it as u do; as an umbrella term but the fact of the matter is it is a slur and like other slurs, can only be reclaimed by the social groups towards which it is directed.
