Turn Your Ashes Into Vinyl?
When a piece of equipment or an object becomes useless to us, what are we to do with it? Most of us will just throw it away. It is sort of the consumerism in us that wants to rid ourselves of anything that is archaic and old. Sometimes just trying to get rid of old gear can be an issue. There are people who want to buy vintage equipment, but if your equipment has no real value, you’ll have a hard time just giving it away. Vinyl records fall in between this category, since there are records that have a lot of value, and records that aren’t worth a dime. Because of this, people have been turning records into artwork and doing other things related to vinyl records. Painters and visual artists might cut the vinyl to a specific shape or even paint on it like it were a canvas. Some might even take the disc itself and use it for something other than art, like a weapon or Frisbee of sorts. In one of the strangest vinyl related products I’ve seen, you can have your ashes or ashes of a loved one pressed into a vinyl record when they die. http://www.hypebot.com/hypebot/2013/07/vinyl-news-new-promo-site-vinyl-crowdfunding-turn-your-ashes-into-vinyl.html
