We've been wanting to do the Red Pine Trail for a while now. We finally got there yesterday! My expectations were pretty high and I was not disappointed!! Pretty proud of my hiking buddy too!! We are old! This hike is straight down to the bottom of Ashley Gorge in the Ashley National Forest. And we all know what comes after "down" 😳. Thank goodness you get your reward (the "gorge"eous 😉 water) first - before you start your climb back to the top. You can hear the water roaring about 5 min before you actually see it. Plenty of rocks to hop out on so you can sit where the water is coming down like a water fall. We will do this one again and we will pack our poles next time.
