Girldad!Doffy has become canon to me, they can pry this from my cold, dead hands 😤 he may not be a *good* father by anyone's definition, but he is spiritually an obnoxious girldad who will take great pride in his daughter taking after his (horrible) traits! In a context like the fic I see girldad!Doffy translating to, like, soccer mom behaviour, where he will talk shit about Baby 5's rivals (any other influencer) and be ruthless in getting her all the best brand deals and exposure💕💕

I reread the fic and damn, he was so flustered from the beginning thinking how Doffy was handsome and strong and had a nice cologne… he just couldn’t not to!

One of my favourite things about writing from Rosi's POV in that fic is how he's quite the unreliable narrator when it comes to Doffy specifically. He's constantly feeling flustered around Doffy, and sometimes his thoughts even wander in inappropriate directions, but it's all because he's "touch-starved" "hasn't been with anyone in a while" "there is nothing weird at all about staring at your brother's fingers and wondering about how dexterous they are" "just envious of Doffy's physique" etc. He might never run out of alternative explanations for his behaviour that don't directly implicate himself in incest, actually XD

But then...that's a load of BS, and deep down Rosi knows it, and I can confirm that too. Somewhere along the way (perhaps earlier than this story began, if that little voyeuristic flashback was an indication), Rosi definitely developed some decidedly unplatonic feelings.

Perhaps the biggest tell in the fic is the scene on the bridge; in Rosi's POV in which the scene is written, the kiss is played off as Doffy's fault. He describes it as if it just sort of happened to him and he was a passive participant. But then Doffy comments that there's lipstick transferred and smeared on his mouth, which would probably *not* happen if it was only a simple peck. Nah, they were making out. Immersively. Takes two to do that!! Another big tell is that massage scene in the rooftop garden, where Rosi completely glosses over the fact that he, uh, had a bodily reaction to Doffy's hands all over him, describing only the part where he quickly pulls a blanket over his lap to hide it. There's also the time Law starts telling him about Doffy's past obsession with Crocodile and Rosi's knee-jerk reaction of feeling jealous, only he doesn't openly acknowledge that he is, but his following line of questioning is so telling.

So, TLDR; Rosi definitely has more than platonic or brotherly feelings for Doffy, but because he's in denial and an unreliable narrator, this is best discerned from scenes where he doesn't say it out loud but there's an opportunity to read between the lines 👀

The Saboala and ASL subplot is so intriguing and idk but a part me somehow thinks Doffy will get arrested at the end of the story after his crimes get revealed somehow.

It's a damn Rollercoaster reading this and the pit of dread I feel whenever we get to Doffy and Rosi's relationship bcs these bastards genuinely make me want to shake their heads and scream communicate since they're both being stubborn about how the other actually is(Doffy going all "I'll let you lie to me one last time " SHUSH IT YOU WANNA BE LIED TO. He's so damn jealous of the attention and care his other self received even though he doesn't think it's genuine. Dude, you think Rosi had an ulterior motive for approaching you? You think he did all of that just to betray you again and for what?? Why expend the effort?? AND ROSI, it's like what Doffy said to Vergo when he was mourning you again "Wasn't it obvious that I loved him Vergo?" bcs one would atleast question why Doffy keeps honoring your deal and giving you time, he even saved you and was so panicked like?? What would an outsider pov of this be like, Your boss who is a known player gets into a dedicated situationship with someone to the point that his mood and productivity fluctuate depending on them. And they ain't even dating your boss is just so obsessed that he's doing all this to gain a foothold in his beloveds heart? And with how patient and indulgent?(idk the word for it) Doffy is with them and his willingness to change?? And then one day after your boss makes a serious business decision that affects the whole company you're scrambling trying to fix but then he comes back pissed telling yall to retract or patch the situation and you're not sure personally but there have been rumors that he's been in a downward spiral after he and his situationship broke up and you don't see him chat or call him anymore and all the while you're just wondering who on earth was able to gain Doflamingo's attention for this long and leave him in shambles when they aren't even confirmed to be dating?? I would be in awe of Rosi bcs what the hell

On the other hand seeing lami and Law is like a breath of fresh air, it's so cute seeing them bond and how protective they can be about each other. Especially with how awkward Law can be sometimes, when he got jealous of Ace and Lami and was worrying about his older brother position being stolen(?) Its perfect especially with the way he acknowledges Ace to be an amazing older brother

My mind keeps thinking of what could happen if after the DQ brothers live out their lives here and reconcile they die and end up back in canon except with their memories of their 2nd life for round 2 of this disaster(canon would diverge so much and the baffled reactions people would have with the both of them, especially when they start referencing memories from before they even met that don't make sense and they have this sudden expertise with stuff or inside jokes?) Sorry for the rambling but this fic genuinely has me yearning for more like it

Okay, to answer the first question– it is definitely part of the plan! For now I think there'll be a Saboala spinoff and at least one spinoff that gets into the aftermath re: Doffy, Rosi and Law. There's actually a BIG new fic coming after flowershop diary ends (hints as to what that is will drop soon ;)), so these spinoffs might take a bit of extra time. But they are on the horizon!

Doffy and Rosi truly are the Worst at communication. It's so bad it borders on like, are they both DUMB? yes. The answer is yes. We wouldn't have a plot if they knew how to have an honest, real conversation like adults XD You're so right that an outsider with even half of the total picture would be able to figure out easily that neither of them wants the other dead. Unfortunately, they're both surrounded by people who either don't have the whole story or who are JUST as stuck in their ways as they are (i.e Law, questioning why Doflamingo doesn't just kill Rosinante and instead takes all these long cuts and actually honours their deals but only getting that far before he decides he hates that guy and hes the root of all evil so it can't be deeper than that 😩💔, Vergo who's too delusional to recognise that Doffy would NOT have multiple mental breakdowns over somebody he hates...)

I'm glad you're enjoying the Law and Lami dynamic too! It's been so much fun to play with the idea of Law trying his best and being very awkward in his determination to be a good brother after a whole lifetime of never imagining he'd get that chance again 🥹

I've never actually thought about this scenario where they end up back in canon after this with these memories intact 😳 that's such a fun idea! Things would certainly go VERY differently, if by the end of this life they've truly learned to communicate and Coexist, that'll be in a very happy direction that's great for all parties involved XD on the other hand...if they mess up AGAIN...this is going to be a cycle of these two making the worst decisions possible with each other, and everyone around them will suffer too lol.

If it doesn't get into spoiler-y territory, I want to know how come Cora's old cigarettes seemed to be keeping Doffy from crashing and burning?? He totally lost it when he ran out! Also, did Doffy realize his dream about being able to snort snow off of Cora for real, or he just mentioned wanting to do that in the transcripts Law saw?? Is that the mortifying thing that happened inside the club that Cora doesn't want to remember, or we'll never know?? Also, did Law really get over Cora not beating the incest allegations?? Or he's just ignoring that bit of his benefactor because he loves him? 🤣 (I apologize for the load of questions!! 😭)

Hi, hi!! Thank you so much for your ask!💖 These are SUCH fun questions 🫣...

Doffy himself doesn't particularly like smoking and doesn't approve of the habit, either, based on the way he was supportive of Law's drive to get Cora to quit.

HOWEVER! Since he doesn't smoke himself, and the other people he associates with don't have such a habit– even Crocodile smokes fancy cigars, not cheap cigarettes– except for "Corazon" and then "Rosinante", my reasoning is that he's come to distinctly associate the smell of cigarattes with his brother 🙈

...What he won't tell anyone is that by association that smell has become something of a "comfort", too; before all this blew up, he told Rosi that he only sleeps so well when Rosi is around, or hangs out with him on the phone until late– because Rosi's company and presence really does make him feel at ease. Now that he can't do that anymore and isn't even willing to admit he misses him, the cigarattes have become a substitute for that! Because he associates them with Rosi, they can somewhat calm him down, although he'd never admit it. When he runs out of cigarattes he has nothing left to turn to but his own unhealthy coping mechanisms, which from canon we know includes a lot of drinking, and from this fic it was established there's also copious amounts of drugs and sex involved too,,

As for whether or not Doffy actually got to live out his coke-snorting fantasy...YEP, he did, that *is* the mortifying thing Rosi was talking about!😆 This happened on the night when Rosi promised to do whatever he wanted. That included drinks, dancing together, and finally this...

(the exact details of which have been left fuzzy on purpose, that's wholly up to the reader's imagination, but if you asked me how I think it would have gone, I'd say it would have progressed kind of naturally to that point. Rosi is unlikely to have agreed to something so mortifying unless it didn't seem like such a big deal at the time; maybe they made their way to have drinks in a private room of the club, they were both pretty drunk, and Rosi spilled alcohol all over himself in his clumsiness so he had to take off his shirt. And *then* Doflamingo would have brought it up. So he didn't exactly get to snort it off Rosi's thigh, but like the texts revealed, his body instead...🫣😂)

As for Law; oh, he is definitely not over it😭 poor boy is actually traumatised by the very idea. This will become clearer later on when we get to spend more time with Law in the coming chapters, but he's really just doing his best to Get Over It because he loves his benefactor too much. Doesn't mean he's ever gonna hate Doffy any less, though. Law will probably end up somehow pinning the entirety of the blame for this on Doflamingo as if Rosi isn't equally complicit 😂💀🙏

I loved loved loved seeing how Doffy is literally fighting against his modern self in the latest chapter. So, much like the question for Rosi, is Canon!Doffy deluding himself for Cora?

Man went and grabbed his brother by the collar, brought him close to himself and told him how he would chase him down across the world and called that romantic.

Like... Just admit you want to fuck your brother, Doffy, sheesh. Not the worst thing he did in his life.

Not to mention the entire party, like it proves Doffy loves Cora cus he got the blonde women in there. He is very self-sabotaging 😭 and it does seem like he himself is making excuses/is in denial. I find it hilarious how it switches from Rosi being in denial/making excuses to Doffy being in denial the moment he returns.

So... We know Modern Doffy is in love with Rosi. But is Canon!Doffy also in love with Rosi?

Also, also! Will Doffy ever get to meet Lami? I really think it'd be cool! Lol, I think she'd be like Baby 5 for him, he just can't act all EVIL™ around Lami. Or if he can, I think Lami would rip Doffy a new one better than Law ever did 🤣🤣🤣 she's such a badass

Hi, hi!! Thank you for so many juicy questions, oh my gosh 🫣🫣!

For the question of is Doffy deluding himself;

✨️ MOST DEFINITELY ✨️

He's been trying to distance himself from the reality he just woke up from because suddenly it scares him. Like, picture this; you go your whole life trying to be as indestructible as possible, never letting anyone see your vulnerabilities; no, hiding them so well that you yourself forget you have them in the first place. It was imperative to your survival to act like you were way above having human weaknesses. Even the people you kept close and trusted were not supposed to see that side of you because your relationship with them was built upon the perception that you are indestructible. Then suddenly...you wake up one day and have the frightening realisation that you had completely ditched that philosophy for the past three years, and you weren't even aware of it. You were going through life in a way that you were never supposed to, with your weaknesses and vulnerabilities practically on display for one person, a person responsible for the worst heartbreak and betrayal you've ever experienced, and you didn't even realise the position you were in. This is a part of Doffy's current crashout. Just, how could he have allowed himself to be so *defenseless*?

Another part of the crashout is that the experience of living a relatively "normal" life without his past baggage has suddenly opened doors he didn't know were there. He's suddenly capable of a completely different outlook on his past because he's just spent time adapting to a world with very different definitions of what's normal and acceptable with different moral standards. Unlike people who were reincarnated with their memories intact, he was a blank slate that could accept this new normal without a preconceived worldview getting in the way.

So, missing and then suddenly regaining his memories has led him to realise this; the illustrious past he's so proud of is nowhere near as glamorous as he remembers it being, starting from the horrifying realisation that he was Trebol's victim and he didn't choose his path all on his own, nor did he have the level of control over his life that he always thought he did. He's able to dig up old memories that he buried such as experiences of feeling lost and scared as a child, back when he recognised the dangerous position he was in before he really got any power of his own. This is what the childhood flashbacks are conveying!

Doffy is right now at a point where every part of his identity doesn't feel like it belongs to him. To be clear, there no two distinct *versions* of him; this is a deliberate classification he came up with himself to distance from the time when he was 'defenceless' 'weak' and an open book in front of Rosi. To acknowledge that it's just a part of his whole would also be to acknowledge those feelings for Rosi and the horrifying new revelations about his past, so he pretends it's someone else entirely that he has no connection to (and Rosi and Vergo both fall for this ruse).

The hints that this distinction is a coping mechanism he just made up are in the conversation he has with his other self, where "modern!Doffy" argues that they are the same person and "canon!Doffy" insists otherwise, except when briefly too disoriented:

And then there's the direct challenge right after he recovers from that, where modern!Doffy tells him to prove that they aren't the same person by killing Rosi like he did before. Doffy accepts the challenge. But when he does go to do it, we see that he decides to stall even more, threatening Rosi that he *will* find him and kill him, at some unspecified future date, after giving him the opportunity to escape and hide....

There's also the little hint we get from Tsuru who visited him the morning immediately after he got his memories back and spoke with him before Monet and Vergo had the chance to; Doffy did not mention the whole 'that was a different person' thing to her, probably because he *had not had the time to think of that excuse yet* XD

The TLDR of this answer? Yes, he's totally deluding himself, but he's also managed to completely convince everyone around him, too ✨️✨️

In the same vein; if modern!Doffy is in love with Rosi, and modern!Doffy is actually the same person as canon!Doffy, then...👀 it's a zeroth law of thermodynamics type situation, isn't it? 🤣🫣

Now, will Doffy ever get to meet Lami? YES, of course! I have a little scene planned for them to meet at the tennis match 🙈 yes, Law would be absolutely livid if he saw Doffy have any kind of interaction with his sister, LEAST OF ALL a POSITIVE one! 😭😂 She would hang onto her morals when it comes to him, I think, but if the situation were to be resolved peacefully and Law and Doffy agreed to not kill or grievously injure each other (the happiest of endings), in that case Lami might just not be able to resist asking about his car collection and bonding with him over it just a little, lolll. He might not even be Evil around her at all, girl dad instincts kick in naturally??

I love a good dofcora smut, but we won't see any in the main fic :'( uh, definitely a bit of escalation in the sexual tension, though, please look forward to it 🫣🫣 Will I write dofcora smut in a spin-off? Now that... I'm VERY open to the idea XD.

I loved that you made Buggy and Shanks have their own famous music bands in your fic! I feel like it fits them so well, since it's a situation where they can be perceived as rivals, but I can also put my shipping glasses on! 🤭❤️💙 (Was that the intention?? Hi, hi!! Finally getting around to answering the next part of your ask 🙏

I love Shuggy, and there's definitely an untapped iceberg beneath their short cameo in this fic! 😆 In my head they've got *crazy* backstory and drama going on behind the scenes. Basically their own modern AU happening at the same time, except it's a band AU, and I would like to hope neither of them died with regrets so no reincarnation stuff for them!

This would span probably a friendship breakup, some kind of betrayal, being in the same trainee company/record label then going their own ways, Shanks winning a music award Buggy had his eye on etc...really, the possibilities are endless! Of course, we won't be getting into any of that in the flower shop fic, but I do have a tiny surprise planned for one of the coming chapters which will *briefly* allude to events in their lives 👀 It's pretty unmissable once you've got the Shuggy lenses on!

I love that you're enjoying Saboala in this fic and their slowburn progression! They are so cute, I'm crushed by the lack of spy-thriller-esque fics with the two of them front and center 🤧😭 (I do have a WIP for some point in the future that's a two-chapter spin-off feat. Saboala from this fic...but of course, that will have to wait until the main fic is over!)

Rosi is /so/ triggered over the Crocodile mentions 😂 I think he generally isn't jealous of the people Doffy is promiscuous with, because he knows they're not really important to Doffy, and although Doffy is obsessed with Tsuru she isn't gonna return his feelings ever so she's no competition either. But then Law just HAD to go and tell him about how Doflamingo was *really into* Crocodile even in his previous life, to the point of everyone gossiping about it, and Crocodile is his hookup buddy in this one too?? NOT COOL. He's pretty darn jealous alright, he just won't admit it to himself 😭😂

As for more Marine characters, unfortunately I didn't really have roles for them in this fic aside from Tsuru :'( Sengoku will get quite a bit of attention in the coming chapters as we explore Rosi's past in more depth, but I'm afraid Coby and Helmeppo don't quite fit in there. Though I'm sure that in this setting, Coby and Helmeppo would be some of Luffy's friends, too– perhaps friends he already has from college, or friends he's yet to meet but eventually will!

There is another option: it was hinted at that Tsuru has a lot of connections with people who have access to spy resources, and that she's used these connections to help Rosi already (like that signal jamming device, getting him a gun, helping him forge his documents for a clean disappearance)– along with the fact that she's here because her regrets were about not being able to reform the Marine system, it's kind of implied that these people are former Marines as well who had the same idea🙈 I hope that Coby and Helmeppo both get happy endings in One Piece, but in the event they die with something to regret...well, they'd end up as part of this network too, because they hold the same principles about justice that Tsuru has, which stands apart from the rest of the Marines. Although they most probably won't make a cameo with just a few chapters left to go, you're welcome to take my answer for whichever option sounds better to you👀
