People are so quick to write him off and it really bothers me because I love him so much. He’s such a good person. He’s so kind to everyone and deeply cares about the people in his life. I think part of why people write him off is because of Cosette - which is so freaking upsetting and I can’t even get into the way that Cosette is treated this fandom - and that’s so dumb. Marius never once says that he doesn’t believe in the revolution, Enjolras or the rest of the Les Amis. He simply says that he found a woman that he loves and wants to be with. That’s not a weakness, in fact, in the time and circumstances that they live in, I think his ability to love is one of his biggest strengths. Him being unsure of if he should join his brothers and fight? Ya’ll he’s like 19-21, he’s a scared boy. It’s completely normal for him to second things. Like I said before, it’s not that he’s questioning the cause, he’s scared. He knows there’s a huge chance that he could die and he just found the woman that he loves and realizes that there’s a possibility that he’ll die without being able to have a life with her, or that even if he did survive he might never find her again. It’s okay for him to be hesitent. In the end, he does what he knows is right and fights for what he believes in. He made a calculated choice, he thought about the pros and cons and decided that ultimately, helping his country move towards becoming a better place was more important than his happiness. That’s incredibly unselfish.
Another thing that I think people mischaracterize is his relationship with Eponine (in the musical, they don’t have much of a relationship in the book). Listen, he doesn’t know how Eponine feels about him he’s not trying to hurt her or string her along. He’s nice to her because she’s his friend and he cares about her. He easily could’ve written her off as a poor girl from the wrong side of town and he could’ve easily treated her as horrible as the Thenardier’s treated her, but he didn’t. Because Marius is a genuinely kind person. He simply doesn’t love her in a romantic way, but he does love her “You would live a thousand years, if I could show you how, I won’t desert you now” that line is a prime example of the love that he does have for Eponine. Also, Eponine isn’t even “in love, in love” with him, she thinks she loves him because he’s nice to her and she’s looking for an escape from the shitty life that she’s living in, but that’s another post for another time.
Also, let’s not forget that Marius goes through a serious trauma and almost dies. He survives the rebellion but every single one of his friends dies.Think about it. He already lost his parents, (in the book) he doesn’t reuntie with his grandfather until his 6 months of raging fever are over and he finally regains consciousness. The only people he has in his life are Cosette and Jean Valjean. He could’ve easily let that trauma harden him and he could’ve turned cold and hateful towards everyone, but he doesn’t. In fact, it’s fairly clear through Empty Chairs at Empty Tables that he feels so much grief about his friends death and that he feels like he should’ve have survived when they didn’t. He’s suffering from PTSD and never once does he blame anyone else for what happened. He lets Cosette be there for him and lets her help him.
Marius is kind, loving and selfless and all this fandom does is act like he’s not important. It makes me so angry.
Who did you want rory to be with in gg?
Logan. He’s my favorite of the boyfriends that Rory had and they should’ve ended up together. I’ve believed that since the series was airing and he was always my favorite of the boyfriends.
When it came to Dean, the first time watching the series I thought they were cute (I was also like the 7-9 range when they were together so I didn’t know shit) but upon rewatches, I quickly came to realize that they were not good together. It started off cute, but Dean was very insecure and truthfully threatened by Rory and what he knew she would achieve. Those insecurities fueled his controlling nature, whch was unhealthy for both of them.
Jess and Rory did not communicate at all which was the problem. Jess also let his jealousy and dislike of Dean fuel a lot of his choices. While yes, at the start of Rory and Jess’ relationship, Dean was trying to get back together with Rory, Rory had chosen Jess and she was clear that he was her choice. Jess also had a lot of personal issues that he needed to work through but wasn’t ready to because he wasn’t there emotionally which understandably held him back from having a real meaningful relationship which Rory. In the later years when he comes back, I think they could’ve had that, and I would’ve been okay with it, but it wasn’t what was supposed to happen. But their relationship has teenagers really did hurt Rory, so even then I don’t think she was ready to open herself up to him like that, and she maybe never will be.
Now with Logan, I am fully aware of all of their issues. They had a lot of communication issues, Logan could be a jerk, Rory wasn’t always open or honest about her feelings. But here’s why I think they were actually really good together. Their relationship had the most growth. Rory and Logan met each other in a time where they both needed to grow up. Rory needed to learn how to be on her own, that not everything was going to work our easily for her and become more worldly in ways that she wasn’t able to learn in Stars Hallow or at Chilton. She also needed to loosen up a bit. For Logan, he had to learn that not everything could be handed to him because of his money, that not everyone was going to fall for his looks and charm, and that he needed to go up and take responsibility for his actions. They learned a lot of these things from each other. They helped each other grow in ways that previous partners and friends were unable to do. They had a lot of ups and downs, miscommunications, and arguments but they also had a lot of really good times, and imo it’s clear that they both respected each other a lot. Now I don’t always agree with the choices that either one of them made, I do think that Rory’s choice at the end of season 7 was the correct choice at that time, but in the end, I think they belong together. I’m not going to get into their relationship in the revival, I did that when the revival came out and I have a lot of issues with it, but that’s a post for another time.

almost every single character is misinterpreted by the fandom and you can tell that those people know absolutely nothing about the book. obviously things had to be condensed to take this 12,000+ page book and turn it into a 3 hour musical, of course, but so many fans completely miss so much characterization because they haven’t bothered to research the actual text that the musical is based on. none of the characters are all good and none of them are all bad (the only exception are the thenardier’s). javert is not a villain. he is a man who sees things only in black and white, he does not believe that there is a middle ground. he does what he believes is right, he follows the law and does not deviate. that is why he has such a problem with valjean. it doesn’t matter to him that valjean stole bread to save his family, all he sees is that he broke the law. he doesn’t pay attention to the good that valjean did and how he turned his life around. that’s his conflict, and when valjean, this man who he believes is a bad person spares his life, it breaks him. in his eyes valjean should’ve done what an ex-con, evil man would do, kill him, and yet he didn’t he showed him kindness and spared his life and javert didn’t know how to handle that and that’s why he killed himself. javert isn’t the villain. the society they live in is the villain of les mis. cossete is not flighty, weak or shallow. she was separated from her mother as a small child so that she could live. she endured endless torture at the hand of people who were supposed to care for her, she easily could’ve grown up bitter and mean and hateful, and yet she didn’t. she exemplifies kindness. she didn’t steal marius from eponine, eponine says it herself “he was never mine to lose, why regret what could not be”, the whole cosette vs. eponine thing is so stupid and i think had they had the chance to actually know each other they would’ve been close. eponine is not actually in love with marius, she’s in love with the idea of him. she’s in love with the kindness and safety he provides for her. i could honestly go on and on for hours

Who is Cody Simpson and what did he do?
lol “who is cody simpson” is precisely the reason why people are freaking out. he’s an australian singer, who was probably most widely known around 2010ish and will be replacing zach adkins as dmitry in anastasia in a few weeks. he also dated gigi hadid from 2013-2015 (which i just looked up because i remembered hearing something about him a few years ago, but not paying any attention). mostly people are freaking out because this is super weird and strange stunt casting. him being so young also is a weird thing, seeing as he’s 10 years younger then christy.
it’s been a long time since i’ve heard him sing, so who knows how he’ll be. but i have no clue about his acting abilities which makes me really nervous. and since stunt casting is supposed to help bring in more people/boost sales, i think everyone is really confused on why he was cast.
of course i hope that he does well and that he does bring in more people, but i’m really really wary about this casting.

I don’t know a whole lot about Dove (she seems like a really nice girl), but from the videos I saw of her in Mamma Mia at the Hollywood Bowl, I’m less concerned about her than I am Cody. But I so hear you
