Mod here with a question for the community about what you want from this blog:

I regularly receive and post asks about halacha and/or what someone can do at their stage in the conversion process. How do we feel about me just doing a “you’ll probably need to ask a rabbi” disclaimer as the mod to get that out of the way so y’all can focus on how to ask a rabbi (or on guessing the answer).

I would like to remind folks of this blog community’s culture of explaining kindly, respectfully, and patiently. If you don’t have the energy or time to give an answer in that tone, that’s fine! Someone else will! The wonderful thing about this blog is how many wonderful jumblrs contribute. I am yet to see a disrespectful or unkind response where someone has not made the exact same point(s) more politely.

If you have any questions about my reason for posting this, you are more than welcome to message me. Please do not speculate on this post.

If behavior doesn’t improve I will contact the relevant user(s) with one warning, including both the original response(s) leading to this post, and any subsequent response(s) leading to the warning. After that, temporary or permanent blocking of user(s) may be in order.

As a rule, I try to contact blogs via messaging. When that isn’t possible, I may @ them below a cut. Please be respectful of that initiation of conversation and don’t get involved; again, you can always message me with questions about my moderation decisions or process.

A question from the mod on FORs within Orthodox Juaism:

It was recently pointed out on a post that Modern Orthodox is a really wide FOR. If anyone from those communities have recommendations about how to best describe different perspectives within that umbrella, please let me know. Same goes for people within any other FORs I encourage that are too broad or aren’t phrased in a way the group would self-describe; I’m guessing I’m especially weak when it comes to Orthodox FORs (hence the title), but would also be super happy to hear from FORs for whom the common-U.S. denomination system isn’t as relevant like Sephardim and Israelis.

matzo gentile again: I'd like to specify that I indeed did not buy any matzo packs this passover time, or actually this year at all. I was asking for a general opinion, for other years as well, since I try to avoid special use products or allergen-free in this quarantime anyways. But thanks to everyone so much for the answers and I love you all!!

Can I just say that I love matzo bread? I'm not Jewish but the local supermarkets have this yellow brand and it's kinda wasa bread with white flour? ^^ The question: In general, not specifically this year, should I skip buying it around Passover?

Revamping the FAA (Frequently Asked Asks) page

I am working on gradually revamping the FAA or Frequently Asked Asks page into a series of interconnected pages (I promise there will be a central place that they are all linked to!). There’s too much wonderful--and at times repetitive--activity on this blog to fit it all into one page.

I will reblog this post with any major updates in my work, or any questions for which I am in need of broad feedback. However, if you are interested in providing input or seeing drafts, please reach out via messaging.
