Once every two months, Owen Alexander went to North Carolina to visit his grandmother. It started off as a monthly delivery of supplies when he went college and lived in Virigina, but the young heart strove to keep the routine when he moved back to Minnesota. (Thanks to the ever-expanding Internet, he was able to order and ship supplies to her address weekly.) For this particular trip, Analiese did not wish to join him. 

Straight forward, it was a twenty-three hour long road trip. With traffic conjunctions, construction zones, and other road-trip hassles, the trip was split into two days. 

In the early hours of the route, Owen noted a blonde with, he admitted, an attractive frame and a raised thumb. Passing the woman, he glanced in his rear-view mirror and pulled over to the shoulder. He flipped on the appropriate signals and waited.
