I kinda wanna make my own ask blog for Matt from EW (which @ask-matt has obviously inspired me for) but I'm just like: I can barely draw once per day and they suck anyways... plus i doubt I'll get any asks considering there's more popular ask blogs.
With Matt and Mello's deathdays/birthday rolling around, I keep remembering what that used to mean a couple years back
I know theres not many Death Note fans following my main blog (your loss lol) so this story GOES TO YOU, MORPHINEJUNKIE !!!
Once upon a time, there was a group of Death Note asks blogs that were once relatively popular, and I was in charge of Ask-Matt. I'm surprised no one had taken the role by the time I found it, but I guess I was just lucky!
My favorite part about trying to analyze Matt's character for an ask blog (or in general), where he can be asked literally anything, was that there is so little official information about him. Aside from a few definite characteristics, anything from his origin to his favorite kinds of food were free game. AND IT WAS SO FUN TO WRITE FOR HIM UGH
Don't get me wrong, I researched anything I could dig up high and low about Matt and compiled it with fan-theory and personal theory, so it's not like I was just trowing out the first shit that came outta my head when I was answering those questions. Matt-theory is serious business
anyway
At the time of my joining, there was also an active ask-mello blog, and I happened to be a pretty big fan on the character they had made for him! They always answered in character and never broke the third wall, and the theories they had to provide when there wasn't anything official always seemed pretty believable!
Being a fan and agreeing with the majority of their posts, I started melding one or two their theories with mine in some of my answers. And one day, I was shocked to find that that Mello had started doing the same with mine.
Before I knew it, we were the only two ask's in the entire group that had co-existing theories. We had the same story on how Mello had escaped from the explosion he caused and how Matt had tended to his medical care, we had the same irrelevant Wammy house stories they they had done once a long time ago, we occasionally tagged each other in our answers if the other had already gone over it before..we never broke character even when sending asks to each other, but somehow we had wordlessly agreed to meld our theories, AND IT WAS THE CUTEST THING EVER.....on the characters birthdays, we even sent little birthday messages to each other for the other to answer.
Then, one by one, the ask blogs became inactive. The Mello blog and I were one of the last ones to leave, but before I did I wrote one last message outside of character, thanking the people that had asked and followed me, and telling the Mello blog that they really made the experience for me.
I still don't know if they ever read it, but I hope they know that they were the coolest.
I still can't believe it happened, THEY WERE SO COOL.....I really miss running that blog sometimes
And I wish I knew who was behind that ask-mello blog...
