Hey, B! Need an artist tip from you :) I'm assuming that you create a line drawing first before you start your digital painting. When I do mine, I paint under the lines to get the edges/forms correct and such. Yet, when I remove the line layer, the painting looks VERY incomplete and when I try to color the empty spots in, it just LOOKS wrong. Whats your take on this? Should I avoid the lifework altogether? Thanks <3
Hey Nerdie!I think the best way to give you a tip on this is maybe by showing you my process in paintings. I work in grayscale most of the time, my brain works easier like this. But it’s just a question of blending your colors/shades according the light you placed on your composition, so I think that will do.
My take on this is to keep the lines and paint over.
So we have our sketch, doesn’t have to be a perfect lineart, that often changes over the time spent on the painting...
I start to work the basic lights behind the sketch layer, always remind yourself of where your light comes from.
Once I’m kinda settled with number 2, I work above the sketch layer, painting over the sketch lines, make sure the light is always ok, make sure the shades are going like you planned them to be.
Keep polishing the piece by blending your shades, as you can see most of the lines are gone (Yeah, I know, the hand changed a lot, I wasn’t happy with the basic sketch).
Here’s a close up of the hand where you can see the lines, at this state it gives a bit of texture on the big picture :p
Then I put the colors, but that’s another story! I hope that helped you a bit!
What books would you recommend to practice male anatomy? I draw from life frequently but I'd love some recommendations. It's sort of a pain to find anatomy books in my area that focus on males and if their are they don't go into enough detail. Thank you!
I can give you one reference of book that I rely on most of the time, but it’s about both genders. And if you can’t find in your area, I suggest you check some e-books available via internet, for that, I have also a ref to give :Book : “L’anatomie artistique” by Giovanni Civardi, the book is in french but I’m sure you can get books in english from the same author.E-book : “Constructive anatomy illustrated” by George B.BridgmanHope those ones will get you all the details you’re searching for !
A bit shy to ask (even on anon) but I have really hard time drawing heads and well any suggestions for a rookie artist? <:)
Don’t worry, I have hard times with heads too, it’s even harder for me to explain !But here’s what I can suggest : Don’t hesitate to buy yourself some anatomy books, you can get those for a few bucks now even in e-books format, I also used to borrow some medical books from a friend who was in medicine studies.Once you get those, you have in hand some basic knowledge and references you can always access. In practice I always start with a structure that will help me put in place everything from scratches.
1- Make the face structure
2 - Make your own luck
I’ll also say that you need to use the structure to help and not follow it blindly. Keep your dynamic, you know what I mean ? :)
Quel logiciel utilisez-vous pour vos dessins ?
On a dû me la poser celle-là mais en anglais je crois...J'utilise Adobe Photoshop, d'autres questions ? :p
Hey! So if you were the one that did that drawing of Rocket and Bucky I was thinking about turning it into a sticker and putting it on my laptop if that's ok with you since you're the artist?
I should have signed “Berunov" instead of "B!" hahaha. If it’s for your personal use only, why the hell not.
But it’s only a sketch and I may finish it someday… just so you know.
Why are you called Berunov? just wondering:3
I don’t know exactly, I used to change a lot my nickname before, but I really love this one, so I kept it since then. It’s the mix of Deathberry (from my fav manga : Bleach) and Dragunov (My fav weapon, as the name of my fav Tekken character)So that made Deathberunov then D.Berunov and then Berunov… x’D
Terribly sorry if this has been asked already (couldn't find an answer) but do you take comissions?
I may start to take commissions soon. All I know is that I'll need extra money in my life very soon.
