Part 1

"What are you doing here?" "Why are you here?"

The two looked at each other, now caught in a stand still.

Hero pointed at Anti-Hero. "You. You're not supposed to be here."

Ignoring the accusatory pose, Anti-Hero repeated their question back at them, "What are you doing here?"

Hero dropped their arm. "There was an unusual disturbance so I was called to check it out. Was it you and Villain?"

"No, Villain's not here. This is my sector to patrol today, is it not?"

"So what's the-?"

An explosion behind Hero interrupted their conversation. Anti-Hero tackled their partner to shield them from the falling rubble. When the shaking stopped, they got up quickly. "We need to get out of here."

"But-" Hero coughed, fanning at the dust cloud that took its time settling around them. "But there's people I need to save."

Anti-Hero grabbed Hero's arm and hauled them to their feet. "They can save themselves."

"Anti-"

"No one's getting saved if you die here," they cut in. As reluctant as Hero was to go with them, they didn't stop the other from dragging them along to find an exit. Thankfully they were only on the second floor and soon found an opening in a large gap in the wall.

"Wait." Hero stopped Anti-Hero from going through it as soon as they caught a glimpse of the crowd outside. They took the lead and leaned over the edge of the gaping hole.

"Hero!"

Below them, Sidekick called out as soon as they saw Hero poke their head out. Hero swore and backed away, pushing Anti-Hero behind them.

"What? What is it?" Anti-Hero hissed.

"It's my team."

Their partner made a face in confusion. "Ok? They know me, I'm not a threat to them-"

"They have Villain."

"Shit."

"Yeah…"

The two sat in the rubble, weighing their options.

Eventually Anti-Hero sighed and clapped their hands together. "Alright. Time to be the bad guy."

Hero frowned at them.

"Don't look at me like that." Anti-Hero tugged Hero close enough to place a kiss on their forehead. "You distract them and I'll take care of our dear Villain. Then when we get home Villain can tell us why they're on the other side of the city from where they said they'd be scheming today."

That seemed to put Hero at enough ease to agree. They sighed, rolling their shoulders back in preparation to go down there. "Fine. Let's go."

Trick or Treat! 🦇🎃👻

"Oh, well aren't you adorable!" Villain grins and leans forward to get a better look. "A rabbit, are you? With stars on your tail. And such void-like eyes! Some kind of ghostly space rabbit, perhaps?"

Villain steps out of the doorway to grab something. "Here you go. All my favorite costumes get their very own death ray." They drop it in the jack-o-lantern bucket and give you a pat on the head.

Right before they close the door, a voice calls out, "Boss, wait!"

Henchman quickly moves into view. "You can't give that to the kids, boss."

Villain frowns, clearly disappointed. "And why not? Is it not the best treat to make the first move against their enemies?"

Henchman shakes their head and plucks the death ray out of the candy bucket. They replace it with actual candy. "No, boss."

"Not even the mini ones?" Villain holds up two very small ray guns.

"Not even the mini ones." Henchman turns back to you. "Sorry about that. Happy Halloween, kid."

The door closes in your face. You're left with evil candy instead of an evil death ray, but at least the 'revenge' flavor promises to be sweet.

Ok so ive been thinking of a ship dynamic and its polyamory. Hero x Anti-hero x Villain. You can do it however you want! I dont think this is an original idea but ive not seen anyone else do this so far

Part 2

"Calm down, love."

"They're late."

Villain stopped Hero mid-stride to interrupt their pacing. They took their partner in their arms and gently guided them to the couch to restrain them in a hug. "Anti-Hero is always late. You know them. They'll be home soon." Villain smiled down at Hero sweetly. "And if they aren't, I'll make sure to remind them how to keep track of the time."

Hero sighed, reluctantly relaxing in the hold. "I might want to 'remind' them with you, if you don't mind."

Villain looked down at their partner with a raised brow. "Is that a threat, love? Careful now. That doesn't sound very heroic of you."

"Loving either of you isn't very heroic of me," Hero huffed. "...Do you think they're okay?"

"They better be."

By the time the front door clicked open, all the lights were out. Anti-Hero slipped through the entrance as quietly as possible. Which meant their partners heard every attempted tip-toe as they crept past the living room. A shadow fell over them and they froze.

"Back so early?"

Slowly, Anti-Hero turned to face Villain. "Oh. You're still up? You didn't have to wait for me, darling." They chuckled nervously, fingers twitching for the weapon pouch on their hip. They were tired, but if Villain wanted a fight, they'd at least try their best before giving in.

"Darling," Villain repeated with a thin smile on their lips. "Dinner went cold hours ago."

Anti-Hero tensed as Villain stepped closer, but their partner only laid a gentle hand on their arm. "You're hurt, aren't you? Let's get you cleaned up. Hero already has the first-aid kit ready."

Anti-Hero sighed, shoulders sagging in relief until the grip on their forearm tightened. "But don't think we won't be talking about this." The softness in Villain's tone was anything but kind. "Even my schemes have a curfew on date night."

Anti-Hero swallowed and nodded, feeling numb. They were in for a long and exhausting lesson later.

[smashed thru your door] "GOOD DAY random civilian! Do I have a product for YOU which is TOTALLY not a non-biodegradable glitter bomb!!!" [I say as I hand you a box and my voice fades further and further away]

Hero coughed and hacked, glittery sparkles flying out of their mouth. "God- what-?!" They nearly stumbled off the rooftop, the city lights highlighting the skyline behind them.

Villain. It had to be the villain. The box had arrived completely unlabeled, and so they'd taken caution and decided to open it outside on the roof of their apartment building. It's a good thing they did, too. Otherwise, their entire living room would be covered in this horribly bright and sparkly non-biodegradable glitter.

False Promises (Part 2)

Part 1

Hero never got bored or looked the least bit uninterested when Scientist talked about new ideas. Most people would zone out long before they really got into a lecture, but still had the decency to nod and comment politely. Hero didn't offer any empty pleasantries. It was funny how similar they were to Supervillain in that way.

Hero asked questions. Not as many as Supervillain and not nearly as introspective, but they made Scientist think. Not just about their work, but about themself, too.

Hero asked for their favorite color. They didn't know. No one ever cared. Questions like that left them feeling flustered and off balance. But there were ones they could answer more easily. Like why erlenmeyer flasks were shaped in such a funny way, or what caustic chemical they most preferred.

Both Hero and Supervillain were fishing for information. Scientist was more than aware there were alterior motives (there always would be). Supervillain poked and proded their mind for their thought process - the way anything and everything worked, how they planned to make and use their own creations. And Hero...

Hero wanted to know them as a person. It baffled Scientist, really, to be seen as more than what they'd done and what they could do. Hero didn't care much for science, but they cared when Scientist had something to say. They didn't preach the glories of a career in heroics, though Scientist was sure that's what they were sent for.

Scientist was useful to Supervillain. With them, they felt needed. Wanted. With Supervillain came admiration and awe at not only the power they had, but the potential they saw in Scientist and their work.

Their relationship with Hero was harder to place. At first Scientist was merely tolerant as Hero seemed content to simply observe and learn. They weren't sure when tolerance turned into...Scientist was reluctant to call it friendship. But Hero was there. They were present and attentive and there, which was more than Scientist could ever ask for.

A beaker crashed on the floor, but Scientist hardly cared for the danger of broken glass when there was a much more immediate threat looming in the doorway. "What- Wh-What are you doing here?"

It had been months since they'd last seen that face. They should have locked the doors, turned out the lights, pretended they'd gone home when Hero suggested it.

Supervillain cocked their head. Scientist could see the thoughtful look in their eyes as they considered what to say. "I made a misjudgment," they settled on. They spoke slowly and carefully in a measured effort to craft a regretful image.

Scientist didn't doubt they were regretful. But not for them. No, they felt remorse for the lost opportunities, for time wasted, when they realized that not only had Scientist survived, but that they'd been recruited by the heroes as well.

Too late Scientist realized that they'd backed themself into a corner. The only door into the lab was on the far side of the room and the windows were at least three stories up from the ground level. They didn't have an escape route.

Scientist should have known better.

They should have known better than to accept the help of heroes after hiding for so long; better than to choose a side that wasn't their own.

Maybe...maybe that was their plan all along. Superhero's speeches about the 'good of the people' never worked, so the heroes sent someone who could appeal to them. Someone who could get them to lower their guard and gradually change their mind. Someone who could be their friend.

Like a fool, Scientist fell for it. Just like they fell for Supervillain.

Nuisance (Part 6)

Part 1 / Part 5

Hero was trapped. And they were trapped with a kid.

They didn't know what caused the earthquake that made this building collapse, but when the ground started shaking while they were out on patrol, they grabbed the nearest civillian and covered them.

When the dust settled and the shaking stopped, they blinked to let their eyes adjust to the darkness, and looked down at the person squirming in their arms.

"...Oh. You're Villain's kid." It took them a moment to realize why this girl looked so familiar, but they were sure of it now. How long had it been since they last saw her with Villain? A few weeks? Perhaps a month or two at most? How fast did kids grow?

She removed herself from Hero's arms and drew herself up as much as she could in the cramped space. They were lucky they ended up in this pocket within the rubble instead of crushed underneath the chunks of debri. "And what if I am?" The little nuisance wasn't looking quite so little anymore, but she certainly kept the attitude Hero remembered.

Hero leaned back and exhaled slowly. They didn't take offense to the challenge in her tone. They had other things to focus on. Like how to get out of here.

After determining that there was no way to move the rubble themself without ruining the fragile stability that happened to be keeping them both alive, Hero returned their attention to her. Although they were trapped, she didn't seem panicked at all. If anything, she was far calmer than any adult Hero had had to rescue.

"You don't seem scared. Are you alright?" Everyone expressed fear differently. Hero might not be great with kids, and this one might have an unusual liking for villainous characters, but they did still know how to do their job.

She gave them a look that Hero was very familiar with. It was reminiscent of Villain's favorite expression - the one that let Hero know they were being judged. Heavily. "Duh. I'm just waiting."

"Waiting? For what?"

The child scoffed. "What do you think?"

Hero frowned. Was she waiting for rescue? Hero couldn't put a call through - there was no signal here - but she seemed confident that something would happen soon.

A beat passed before they attempted to assure her. "I'm sure someone will be looking for us. It might take some time for a team to find us-"

"I'm not waiting for one of you," she cut them off bluntly. "Heroes suck. You even blew up my house once."

That gave Hero pause. It was true some of their coworkers could be a bit reckless. They couldn't blame a child for seeing things that way if they were affected so directly. "I'm...sorry to hear that," they said seriously. "I promise we are doing our best to protect you. But sometimes destruction like that is unavoidable."

"Oooor you're just bad at your job." She scoffed, small fists planted on her hips as she glared Hero down. The image would have been just a bit more intimidating if she didn't stick her tongue out too.

Nevertheless, Hero's face burned a little with embarrassment. At least they could be sure now that that sharp tongue of hers didn't come from Villain's influence.
