what is the reason for wearing ear muffs on your ears?

Meredy had been wearing ear muffs since she was younger. Her parents got her the first pair she’s ever owned when she was only 3 years old, after she grew easily ill from the cold. Ever since then, she’s always had them. It was a silly symbolic accessory for her to hold close to her in attempts to be connected to her past, childlike self.
However, the habit steadily grew to be something more enjoyable in her adult years. She now collects and shops for ear muffs regularly like a normal girl would shop for earrings. Ultear gave Meredy the dark brown ones she wears very often.
