✦ Has your own interpretation changedfrom when you first began playing the character?
It surelyevolved, and it mostly evolved with me because I’m not the same person I was a year ago, but my muse is basically the same. The main change is, I think, that I’m less open to shipping, but my Curufin hasalways been aromantic so by shipping, I mean sexual partners.
Except from that, I don’t think he changed, I just understand him better, I can put words on thingsI didn’t manage to name before, although it’s still complicatedsometimes.
✎ What do you wish the author wouldreveal/had revealed about your muse?
His relationship with the dwarves! We It’s said he’s the only Noldo who managed to learn Khuzdul directlyfrom them; How did he win their friendship and trust? Howoften did he travel to Belegost or Nogrod? Why did Telchar offerhim Angrist; did they work together (as I imagine)? Was it a gift that symbolized a great friednship or an alliance or a sign of respect? Did Curvo give something in return? And since the Tale of Years tells us that Curufin and Celegorm slew the dwarves who left after the sack of Nargothrond (because they though they had the silmaril); How terrible was it for Curufin, who considered the dwarves his friends? What awful dilemma did he have to face?
It’s obviously important since Celebrimbor became a great friend of the dwarves, which means that heshared not only his father’s interest in learning more about them, but also that he must have learned many things about them with his father, if no thanks to his father.
Another important thing that I miss:more about his creations! We know about Fëanor’s creations, about Celebrimbor’s creation, but what about Curufin’s? Thislack of information is a good food for thoughts, from an in narratorpov it can be revealing (like I explained here),but it’s still frustrating!
His reaction after the destruction of Nargothrond? We know that the news “did not all displease Celegorm and Curufin” (HoME XII), which must mean that their sentiments were contradictory on this matter (I’ve already wrote about it, but the post is now lost and I’m too lazy to re-write it again); in other words; it didn’t displease him totally, but they weren’t exactly thrilled by the news. A very complicated subject if you want my opinion.
Also - Indirectly, because it’s notabout him - I wish to know more about his wife! Because the‘unnamed lady who didn’t take part in the rebellion’ is quite of an unsatisfying depiction. On the one hand, it leaves space formany great OCs and interpretations, but on the other hand, itIS frustrating.
And there’s a ton of other things...
