tl;dr : that fucking twink that i hate.
tl;wr :
I adore how this particular chapter tackled the subject of Darkners and their relationship with love, given how narrow their perception of the world is. Love simply doesn't exist in the world of plants, and yet it's all the Flowers knew from Asgore. He showed them so much love they all collectively decided to go against their nature. Flowers are short lived, after all, and longevity is the fundament of love. And yet, they all learned how to love for him, in so many different ways too.
(which directly parallels how Susie interpreted the love in the prophecy as romantic love only, by the way.)
Flowery's love is especially making me mental. All the other Flowers are their own people at the end of the day, even if they're meant to invoke all the different things and people that made Asgore happy. But Flowery? Flowery loves Asgore so much that he gave up being himself for him.
(parallel to ralsei, naturally.)
Modelled after Rudy, putting himself in the role of Toriel and Asriel both...He genuinely believed that "channeling" all three of them would make Asgore happy.
But he doesn't understand why that doesn't work. He can't understand why he can't make Asgore happy by being best friend, spouse and son all at once, even though Asgore cherishes all three of them so deeply – since in his mind, more is always better.
Because, at the end of the day, he's still just a flower. One who spent all of his life in a glass container ; one who had only a lonely and heartbroken man as a point of reference for anything. He never could've made Asgore happy, because Asgore was all he ever knew. His whole world.
