I binge read the water between us last night and I’m obsessed with your writing!! And I love your take on Daeron/Rhaena (HE OWES HER A CROWN!!!!)
I hope you continue to write hotd fic once this is done bc the water between us is genuinely perfect
ooooh my gosh this so sweet THANK YOU and I’m glad you enjoy the fic so much!!! I was hoping to get a new Rhaena chapter uploaded today but there’s still so much left for me to tie up. I can promise there will a few more Daeron/Rhaena moments! ;)
I really love the “I owe you a crown” line because yes, he’s referring to a flower crown in a tourney BUT ALSO Rhaena would be a princess if she married him.
I am planning on writing more hotd fic! I think it would be fun to write a more romance focused story, and I also have the prototype of an AU where Aemond fosters with Rhaenys. But regardless, yes! More fic, most likely involving the Velaryons!
I want a S2 scene where Violet acknowledges how much of himself Anthony sacrificed for his family. Anthony gives up much of his childhood so his siblings don’t have to. He is literally willing to die for Daphne’s honor and consequently Eloise, Francesca, and Hyacinth’s general wellbeing and future lives. People (especially after the show) like to say Anthony was overdramatic and ridiculous with the whole overprotectiveness (especially in order to prop up Simon-which mini tangent is my biggest gripe with the show they do this a lot more than the books) but Daphne was being selfish in that scene and not enough people talk about it she wasn’t just playing with her life but she was playing with her sisters’ lives as well (boys usually get off easily) and its Anthony that steps in partly out of obligation I’m sure but mostly I think because that’s just who he is.
And I hate the Violet takes Anthony’s existence for granted and when she finally says that he was Gregory and Hyacinth’s dad she says it to Gregory not Anthony and like who is that helping? I especially abhor the scene (which I believe is show only can’t be sure though I haven’t read TDAI in a long time never could get over That Scene tbh) where Violet shames Anthony for the whole protectiveness and generally in all of S1 is really mean to him. She’s a great mom to literally all of her kids except Anthony and it sucks because he’s probably the one that needed her the most. (Its not surprising that Anthony never told anyone about his fear of bees and dying young thing) I just want Violet to acknowledge the fact that the entire family has been trying to fit an Anthony in an Edmund sized hole and appreciate everything Anthony has done out of his love for his family. Also I want my baby to get a hug and gold star because he needs it.
Also semi related but not really I have not forgiven the show for the “You esteem me so little?” “...yes brother I do” scene and I never will. If they pull that with Eloise I will lose it
I agree to a certain extent. Violet has a lot to learn, but I appreciate that they’ve given her human flaws that actually make sense. But I also do believe that Anthony needs to be called out at times. (He was trying to get Nigel to marry her. That is a grade-a clown move on his part.) So to me, what she said makes sense. He’s not righteous, he’s deeply flawed, and he’s brash at times, which makes sense because he doesn’t know any better—it’s what men did back then. But I get the women trying to fight back against it as well.
Ultimately though, even if Violet wasn’t this way, I still don’t think Anthony would have opened up to her about his fears anyway. I don’t think he would’ve opened up to Kate if she didn’t ask him about it as quickly as he did. He puts up a front in that way. He holds a lot in partly because I believe he doesn’t know how to even begin talking about and partly because men at the time just aren’t given the leeway to share their feelings. So a lot goes into Anthony’s reservations and harboring his demons. The walls that he has up extend toward his brothers, too. They’re his own, I don’t think that it’s Violet’s doing entirely because he isn’t meeting anyway halfway. During the duel, whatever Benedict’s about to say, he doesn’t want to hear it. He just ends the conversation right before he’s about to say something. He’s not comfortable with vulnerability.
I do agree that the relationship between him and Violet needs to be patched up. And it will be, they wouldn’t have set them up this way if they didn’t plan to make the relationship stronger.
I don’t blame Anthony for not knowing how to be a father at 18, not even the slightest, I don’t think anyone else really does either, and if they do, they’re not looking close enough or thinking clearly. But as far as his siblings go, they have a right to judge at times. It’s your sisters debut, get your dick out and don’t be late. 🤷🏻♀️. It’s shit like that, which really doesn’t require much work on his end, and yet here we are. But again, I appreciate these things, they make him more human and it’s understandable. I think I’m in the minority here, but I had 0 problems with Anthony’s characterization, both him being an absolute shit and making stupid decisions, but also righting his wrongs.
I firmly believe we’ll patch up all these relationships in S2. His family will see and understand just how much he’s done. There’s so much more room in the show for these things. I don’t remember much of TDAI either so I can’t speak on this conversation? But again, I’m sure next season will look a lot different because he’s front and center. And Violet will play a larger role in understanding him too.
Finally, all the hugs for the man and more. He’ll have a woman by his side who sees all of him and she’ll be there to make everything better. And through this, he’ll feel safe enough to be more vulnerable around his family too as opposed to putting up a front. The Bridgertons aren’t perfect, literally none of them--except maybe F, G, and H right now since they’re kids, but the rest, they all have flaws big and small, and I personally like that we got to see so much of it.
I feel like I didn’t really answer your question, but I don’t know, personally I’m good with the bad shit, at least for now because it made sense to me and I trust what they’re trying to build up for next season.
Can you gif every time Jo’s been called hot/unbelievably beautiful? So like Tom 2 episodes ago, Maggie when she’s telling Jo to bring the thunder cause she’s gorgeous, the intern in S12? Saying Alex has a hot girlfriend, Mer saying Jo was so hot she could sleep with anyone, the patient in the post Derek death episode that called her Snow White and any more you can think of
Hii, yes of course! Posted. I used all the scenes you suggested! I'm sorry If I forgot other scenes, If I did, I'll do Part 2 of this gifset as soon as possible, promise! ♡
I would like to offer my half cent (I’m broke its all I can spare at this time) argument to this AK or FM in terms of kinkness (which is a hilarious conversation btw)
Michael and Francesca are hot, they have dirty grimy sex but are largely conventional-but both are more experienced at the time of WHWW so (largely Francesca) knows what they want which makes the scene read differently than other scenes of the sort. Its very hot because damn Michael is into some dirty talk but not kinky persay but definitely dirty
Anthony and Kate on the other hand-First off Anthony simply threatens to tie Kate down to the bed too many times for me to believe they are a straight laced sex oppressed Regency era couple (which is bizarrely funny to me) also 2nd epilogue Kate knew exactly what she was doing in the shed. Also her eagarness to be tied up was pretty notable. Basically if JQ told me tomorrow that this is a couple regularly planned strip Pall Mall I would belive it
This is maybe the most bizarre critical reading I’ve done and if my English professors could see me now yikes (My feminism and sexuality in literature professor would be pretty happy though) 😂😂😂😂 but still fun....I think😂😂😂
I still don’t know how this conversation found its way to me, but can’t say I’m mad at it. Not even a little. But also LMFAO. You make great points, so I wouldn’t be surprised either--those two absolutely play strip Pall Mall. That’s canon. I’m taking it as so. And as a woman with a degree in English, I welcome and commend all this. Your critical thinking skills are excellent.
@kendradaynes: OK basically Seth was not actually into it, like… at all. He kinda just stood there. He was giving a speech I’ve given to a lot of friends and they’ve given to me (different metaphors but you know) and Emily kind of threw herself at him. It was 100% awkward to watch.
ummm that’s so weird?? maybe it’ll be a one time thing or something?
@aspoonfuloffiction: Aaron doesn’t know but they’ve written Aaron and Emily as barely acquaintances this season so I don’t even know if Aaron’s gonna care which in my opinion is the worst part I wish they’d give Aaron and Emily closure before starting Seth and Emily... But also if Aaron did still have feelings for Emily it’s not a triangle because Emily has given no indication of being into Aaron so it could be more unrequited feelings than a triangle
this really sucks. once you write something you can’t just change what’s already been done. it makes 0 sense. ughh this is so weird
@toohappydriving: i did too! but i was like maybe i imagined it. but then i watched them side by side and it's exactly the same lol @aspoonfuloffiction: yes!! they made the scene a lot shorter though so there's no really shocked reaction from the finale
aspoonfuloffiction replied to your post “okay when will cat come to visit and tell kara she’s in abusive...”
Okay I don't like Mon-el and Kara at all either but while Mon-el has been really terrible at being her love interest he's not abusive. Please stop trivializing actual abuse by just throwing that word around
