Assassinaut will be released on Blu-ray and VOD on July 30 via Dread. The indie movie blends science fiction, horror, and coming-of-age adventure.

Written and directed by Drew Bolduc (The Taint), the film stars Vito Trigo, Johnathan Newport, Shannon Hutchinson, Jasmina Parent, and Yael Haskal.

Special features have not yet been revealed, but you can read on for the trailer and synopsis.

In the near future, aliens have invaded Earth and declared a galactic war resulting in thousands of human casualties. To save Earth, a team of four teenage astronauts brave the alien wilderness of a distant planet to stop an assassin from changing the course of history forever.

My rating: 3/10

To call this movie half-baked would be too kind - it's basically raw, more of a loose pile of tropes and concepts than anything else, and apparently motivated entirely by a spiteful desire to Subvert Expectations (TM). This it tries to accomplish by repeatedly setting up a plot thread and then abruptly cutting it off by having something horrifically, pointlessly violent happen instead. This, of course, is neither clever nor entertaining, and it made this one hell of a slog.

Assassinaut, 2019 This movie has some charm, the kids do a good job acting and while it’s lower budget does show in the costuming and sets a bit, everybody is doing their best. The plot and editing are a bit all over the place and are probably more confusing that it needed to be. I recommend checking it out!
