Princess Aster of The Sunshine Lands was raised by the ocean all her life and has always loved it. A curious and adventurous girl, Aster loved to study the stars and learn how to make maps and navigate. Her father taught her how to swim and sail, and Aster has loved going out on the water ever since. Even after an accident when she was young and almost drowned, it did not deter her from going back to the sea, much to her mother's dismay.

Due to the excellent relationship between The Sunshine Lands and the Merfolk of the Coral Sea, Aster was taught a lot about Mermaid history and became fast friends with Rielle when he came to land. Aster also does a lot of publicity and work with the charity in her kingdom that helps merfolk migrate to land that Azul and Tweels use. She's part of the White Ash swim team, and the sailing club that's run by professor Rogers, and she is her star pupil in the club.

Aster is a big dog person, and her best friend is her pet and familiar. A big fluffy sheepdog named Nova that came with her to school. Nova is a very energetic and affectionate dog. Students often see her running around the grounds. It's a common sight for students to see a big ball of floof coming their way before getting tackled for kisses.
