Five they number now. 

A new flavor, a power not god, but worshipped all the same. 

The threat is gone, but questions remain. Questions that may yet be answered, may yet reveal the darkest truth. 

Two more will have to be Swallowed soon, to end the searching threat.

There was a new taste on the air, something different than the four. 

burning feathers and ozone

ocean spray on bare skin

the black void of space

a voice heard without ears

leather and gunpowder and two human boys 

Something powerful was within reach, something new, yet older than time. And it knew. It Knew about the others, the ones who had fallen, had been Devoured. It would be next. It had to be next, before it's potential could come to fruition.

the Taste of spring

fragrant buds and the smell of rain on the air  

thunder murmuring in the distance

green grass under retreating winter snow

warm breeze driving the cold back into that long night

love sweet skin on the tongue

A scream in the night. Another has fallen to join the ranks of the Devoured.
