Hey! Adore your Rincewind costume! Have you made your pattern for his hat available on Ravelry? I have a friend who was lamenting not having a pointed hat pattern like, a month ago, so I would love to be able to point xem at yours! Have a lovely day!
I will say I did not make a pattern as such, I just kind of vibed it out. I went looking to see if I'd written any notes about the construction and if i did... I can't find them alas.
However I can give your friend the basic vibes of what I remember with the disclaimer that this is very slapdash:
I started at the tip and cast on...probably 3 or 4 stitches, and then I increased 3 stitches every... probably 3 rows? down the hat until I got the appropriate width for around my head. Then I switched to increasing 8 stitches every row for the brim.
I basically went on the brim til I ran out of yarn, and then I threaded some floral wire though the edge so I could do some shaping if I wanted. It looks like i did an i-cord bind off too (which looks really slick! I've used it on a few projects).
The words were duplicate stitched in afterwards.
I will also say I remember starting over a couple times, so if the shape of the pointy bit is not coming out quite right it might be worth it to change the number of increases or spacing between them. Also my hat is very floppy and I think a tighter gauge would probably help it have a bit more structure if you want that!
