give this woman more power
Am I crazy or could Astra and Smol actually significantly fix their relationship? With the sword gone they're cooperating, and it looks like they've both worked with the leyline cult now, so like.
Also primary Astra suddenly being the demigod of herself, Smol, AND Ansel? Legitimately the followers she deserves! Plus Smol already promised his soul to Ebnir in a past loop, maybe thats part of why they're getting along now?
She’s a pathological liar. She’s a known author. She’s both part of a military operation and a wanted criminal. She’s straight up eaten people. She’s stuck in a time loop. She had a mental breakdown at a dinner party about the time loop. She’s haunted by a cat. Her name, according to Wikipedia, means ‘famous plotter’. That might not even be her real name. She’s into MILFs.
I really love Astra and Zelf's dynamic, I really think its a big part of what makes the show so good and unique. Astra is a chronic liar and Zelf is a chronic investigator, they were bound to come into some sort of conflict. However, this conflict is neither contrived, nor annoying.
If you ever played a roleplaying game with a bunch of boys in high school, you'll know that they really want to do pvp. For most its dnd, but for me it was pathfinder (also Universe which I'll take every opportunity to advertise a little bit, I liked it a lot). The combativeness actively hindered playing the game, and started to get annoying. In TAZ Ethersea two of the player characters(Amber and Devo) start getting into arguements, and character-wise it made a lot of sense for them to do so, but it felt kind of awkward to listen to and it slowed things down.
For Astra and Zelf their infighting creates more intrigue than it slows the plot. (although, it was a significant slowing to have to retrieve Zelf in the second loop, but I liked spending time with Tetra; the 4th and final member of the team, so I didn't mind it.) Neither of them are the type to jump into battle so they go behind eachother's backs a lot, and that generates a lot of secret recordings! Juggling all the secret recordings at the end of the first loop must have been tricky (if nothing else just to schedule them).
