Your Brass Rings one shot is so cute but I have so many questions! Lol I know it’s a one shot so there probably isn’t any answers but why was Beca so mean? I’m assuming while Chloe wasn’t visiting Beca then collected the rings in hopes that she’d see her again and then never came and not that she just collected the free rides and never cashed in? Do they ever go back for vacation or is the plaza closed now?

hi atafal! i'm so glad you liked that drabble. and omg i'm glad you asked bc i have many thoughts ab what was going on in that ficlet that i didn't have space to include

so beca's a local kid living on the vineyard and her family doesn't have a lot of money. that's why chloe always sees her just looking longingly at the carousel but doesn't ever ride it. and young chloe puts this together gives her free rides away to the quiet, surly girl

beca, however, doesn't cash them in. she can't believe someone like chloe (pretty and sweet and from a warm (rich) family) would take any interest in her. so she saves the brass rings as keepsakes. (i actually didn't think that it could be read as if beca got her own brass rings to give back to chloe -- that's cute too!)

flash forward to barden -- the reason older beca is so mean is bc she's embarrassed that chloe knows her past and that she might think beca was just this charity case who doesn't belong. she projects a bunch of her own insecurities onto chloe -- until chloe calls her on it and beca realizes how wrong she was

if i ever turned this into a true one shot, i'd love to have them go back to the vineyard on vacation alskjdf;lj that'd be so cute!

hahah i... literally have no idea. per usual, i had no real plan going into this fic. in fact, i think before sitting down to write it i messaged romy and was like, 'i wonder where this fic is gonna go'

all i knew is that chloe was gonna be a secret vampire, beca would find out and ask to be bitten bc she has a crush on her, and that beca was going to /really/ like it. the rest came to me as i went

dialogue in particular is a very fast part of my writing process. it kinda just comes to me. so i don't sit and ponder it much, if ever.

lol this is not a satisfying answer. here let me try to break it down retroactively:

i wanted chloe to express that drinking human blood right from the source was SUPER pleasurable (10 orgasms) but also delicious and nourishing (red meat, ergo, hamburger). chloe would also want to put it in terms that beca understands -- she knew beca loves burgers and just had a hunch she liked orgasms, too ;)

i love this question bc this is something i've been thinking about lately. i have covid and while my symptoms are luckily very mind, i lost taste/smell. my taste is starting to come back, but it feels like i'm /about/ to taste whatever i'm eating. like i'm about to taste peanut butter, i'm about to taste coffee. it's almost like a separate sense -- anticipatory taste, but not taste itself

that's what i imagine it's like when chloe tastes beca's blood

the actual flavor doesn't change, but whatever feelings or emotions beca is experiencing flood chloe's senses as the blood hits her tongue

she doesn't really know how to describe it. it's as if she gets the echo of beca's excitement, exhilaration, arousal. it sparks that same feeling inside herself, and soon she can't tell where beca's feelings end and hers begin

she already felt so close to beca, even before she found out chloe was a vampire, but this connection takes it to the next level. chloe's never felt anything like it, and she can't get enough

Okay so hear me out, what if there was a cure to make Chloe not a vampire anymore and like that’s how she gets her mortality back? Like not to be too soulmate-y (but definitely soulmate-y lol) what if there’s a legend in the vampire community that if you drink blood from your soulmate you can have your morality back? Of course not everyone would find their soulmate or their soulmate is another vampire or it could take centuries for their soulmate to be born. So then there’s still that slight chance that maybe your immortality isn’t so final.

okay wait that's super cute, her gradual alive-ing. i'm not really one for soulmates, but could be something about her finding true love.

the gradual realization would work better in a universe with typical vampire rules. like if all of a sudden she realized she could go out on cloudy days, then partially cloudy, then she could just be in the sun

this is niche, but something about this also makes me think of that scene in hook, where peter, back in neverland, finally sees the food the lost boys are eating bc he starts to believe.

so maybe it's like now that chloe has fallen in love she starts to believe in living. beca makes her feel so incredibly alive it's almost like she's human again, and then, one day, she just is 💕

i do want to do another vamp chlo one-shot that explores what happens after they got together. but i have a rule of only having 2 WIPs at a time, and if this is going to be an ongoing one-shot series it's technically a WIP, and i currently already have 2 -- actor au and my poor, long-suffering stockholm roadtrip fic, which only has 1 chapter left and has been left hanging for ages </3

i'm gonna focus on wrapping up actor au! but i def want to do at least one more for vamp chloe. i have an unrelated holiday one-shot idea too, but that will have to be a time- and WIP-permitting thing.

you're right, smart!beca will finally appear in the next chapter! //holds for applause// as you know i'm historically bad at predicting what i'm going to ultimately write, but i don't intend for there to be any more cliffhangers. if all goes to plan, the next chapt will be the resolution. then there will be one more as a sort of fluffy little epilogue.

GOSH actor au. i've written versions of actor aus in previous fandoms, so i came into this one with MANY tropey scenes in mind

runners up are: napping together on set, secretly hooking up in trailers, running from the paparazzi, trying and failing to hide their horniness at public events

but the be-all and end-all actor au scene for me is: "person A is nervous about their on-screen kiss with their crush, person B, who ultimately suggests they practice the kiss in private."

and voila:

In the script, Ella waits a few beats after Charlie has finished before kissing her. But here, in this trailer, Beca doesn’t wait.

She can’t wait.

She closes the space between them while Chloe is singing the last note. And she knows she’s supposed to be Ella -- that that’s the whole point -- but there’s something about Chloe pulling her in that can’t be scripted or staged or faked. It’s as real as the curve of Chloe’s jaw beneath her thumb, or the sharp intake of breath Chloe makes when Beca’s nose nudges the apple of her cheek.

Chloe lifts her chin and finds Beca’s lips, and that’s not in the script either. The realization makes Beca’s stomach swoop, and when she kisses Chloe back she feels weightless. Maybe that’s why she slides her fingers into Chloe’s hair, why she fists the fabric of Chloe’s shirt in her other hand. She clings to Chloe, tethers herself to her so she won’t float away.

In the movie, Ella is an angsty force of nature. She sets the pace, incites action, commands the room.

But Beca doesn’t remember any of that. All she can do is hold on and give herself up to Chloe’s mouth.

And she’s new to the whole acting thing, but she has an inkling it doesn’t usually feel like this. She wonders what it feels like to Chloe. If she’s just acting when she sucks on Beca’s bottom lip or when she licks along the seam of Beca’s mouth.

Is acting supposed to make you see stars behind your eyes, to send streams of heat pooling low in your stomach?

These are the questions bouncing around the static of Beca’s mind as Chloe crowds in closer, pressing their bodies together. There’s a whimper building in Beca’s throat and it takes everything in her to suppress it. She parts her lips, taking a shaky breath, and Chloe’s right there, slipping her tongue into Beca’s mouth.

Beca moans then -- this quiet, pathetic sound -- and meets Chloe’s tongue with her own. Chloe’s nails dig into her waist, blunt yet biting, and Beca feels it all over.

Even though she can’t think straight, Beca knows she’d let Chloe do anything to her right now. It’s like they’re the only ones who exist, like they’ve slipped onto another plane where all there is is Chloe and her lips and her hands that feel like fire.
