hey....hey hey...what's QKSlush? (i'm ur fellow clueless writeblr aka atelierwriting)
It’s part of Query Kombat, one of numerous query tournament/competitions that happen online. If you’ve got a full manuscript ready to go, and a polished query to boot, you can send it in today and tomorrow (the 17th of May) to be considered for the tournament. There are 4(?) agent judges that get to pick a certain amount of queries each to go forward. Altogether, those 64 in total go through to fight it out for Glory. If you make it past the first round, you get agent critiques, and can start amassing manuscript requests from agents interested in seeing more of your novel.
A lot of these pitch wars takes place on twitter, so the agents have a couple hashtags for advice. They’ll live critique the submissions as they read through them, which is under #QKSlush (slush for slush pile, which is where your queries go if you’ve sent a publisher/agent an unsolicited submission while if they’re not currently accepting new stuff!)
I know I just said a lot of publishing industry Words at you, so if that still doesn’t make any sense, let me know, and I can break it down. I know the novel query process is a big Mystery to many of us. ;)
