Some nights
you get the Lethe
and beyond the act of sleep
there is no recall
and some nights it's the Styx
some nights the current
in inperurbable forcefulness
delivers you to morning
wrapped in forgetfulness
of what the night possessed
some nights it's the Styx
some nights It's called the Acheron
who's malignant rocks and
ripping swells
take you across to hell
where the tide of mind
sits at the tiller
laughing madly
as with nightmares it viciously
waves in your face
reducing the night
to a sweat bathed disgrace
some nights it's the Acheron
some nights it's the Styx
whatever the river
that sleep delivers
that's where you will go
they take you to morning
a powerless inert body
caught in the undertow
